PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION

Name:____________________________ Grade level/Section:___________

Teacher: ___________________________ Date:________________________

Part 1. IDENTIFICATION (2pts. Each)

*Health-related fitness components

__1. refers to the ability of the heart, lungs, and blood vessels to supply oxygen to your body
tissues during sustained physical activity.

__2. refers to the ability of the muscle to continue to perform without fatigue.

__3. refers to the maximum amount of force a muscle can exert in a single effort.

__4. refers to the percentages of fat, bone, water, and muscle in a human body; it is often the
ratio of lean tissue to fat tissue in the body.

__5. refers to the ability to bend and move the joints through the full range of motion.

* (6) Types of Physical Activity

___6. Simple and self-reflected activities with flexible rules for the purpose of enjoyment.

___7. A physical activity requiring skill and physical prowess that is governed by set of rules and
regulations that is often done in a competition.

___8. Physical activities which have been a part of our daily routine.

___9. High-intensity physical activity that is done in a short duration of time requiring high
energy.

___10. An intense play activity that requires substantial energy expenditure (e.g. playing tag,
jumping rope).

__11. Light to moderate-intensity physical activity that requires more oxygen than sedentary
behaviour, and thus promotes cardiovascular fitness and other health benefits.
*The Principles of Physical Activity

__12. This shows that benefit and changes achieved from overload will last only if training is
continuous.

__13. This is the most basic principle that indicates doing “more than normal” for improvement
to happen.

__14. It is a gradual increase in exerting effort or load that is done not too slowly, nor too
rapidly.

_15. This suggests that overloading must specifically train a desired body part for it to improve.

II. Explain (5 points each)

1. How will you differentiate anaerobic a-lactic and anaerobic lactic system? What do they have
in common? Explain.

2. How does the aerobic energy system work in our body? How does it differ from 2 anaerobic
systems? Explain.

3. Differentiate aerobic, muscle strengthening and bone strengthening activities?

4. Explain the importance of Frequency, Intensity, Time, and Type (FITT) in doing exercise?
