FIRE SAFETY AWARENESS

(CODE RED POLICY)


CODE RED
• In case of fire, announce “Code RED” with location and floor
number, by dialling 7070 using the intercom.

• Eg: Code Red MDCCU1 fourth Floor. (3 times)


• Eg: Code Red Fast Track OPD third Floor (3 Times)

• If situation gets out of control, an authorised person, dial 101 or


0469-2600101 (Thiruvalla Fire Station).

Fire Safety...
 Rescue anyone in immediate danger.
 Activate the fire alarm pull station.
 Contain the fire.
 Extinguish the fire, if your safety can be assured.

DO NOT PANIC!
• Identify location of fire.
• Activate manual pull box to intimate the fire throughout the hospital.

• Identify the cause of fire.


• Try to remove the materials causing fire.
FIRE EVACUATION PLAN
• See the emergency patients to be evacuated.
• Lead them safely through the nearest fire exit pathway leading to
the assembly point. (AVOID USING LIFTS)

CALL FOR HELP!
• Intimate the concerned persons to shut off any medical
gas/power to the area of fire.
• Intimate the in-house Fire Brigade.
• If the situation is uncontrollable ,call the State Fire
Brigade to suppress the situation.

CODE RED CLEAR
• Once the fire is shut down, “Code Red CLEAR” has
to be announced manually through the PA system.
