"Project Title" (16 TNR Bold) : Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad (M.S.) (12 TNR)

This document appears to be a project or seminar report submitted for a Bachelor of Engineering degree. It includes sections like introduction, literature survey, system modeling, performance analysis, and conclusions. The objective of the project was to investigate simple microstrip antennas with large bandwidth. In the first part, the bandwidth was increased to about 50% with linear phase characteristics by optimizing the feed configuration while keeping the design simple. This resulted in proposing a criterion for maximum bandwidth in the suspended microstrip antenna configuration.

statements. Edit sentences properly according to your need)

Apart from the efforts of me, the success of this project depends largely on the encouragement
and guidelines of many others. I take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the people who
have been instrumental in the successful completion of this project.

I am highly indebted to Prof. V. D. Saundarmal, for his guidance and constant support. I can’t
thank enough for his tremendous support and help. I feel motivated and encouraged every time I
attended his meeting. Without his encouragement and guidance this project would not have
materialized.

I take this opportunity to convey our sincere thanks to Dr. S. M. Badave, Head of Electrical
Engineering Department, for providing guidance and whole hearted cooperation.

I am thankful to Dr. N. G. Patil, Principal, Marathwada Institute of Technology, Aurangabad for

his encouraging attitude.

I also extend my genuine thanks to all the staff of Electrical Engineering Department for
providing valuable guidance. I am also thankful of Prof. G. V. Lakhekar, and Mr. Sachin Giri for
their helpful discussion.

Finally, yet importantly, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to my beloved parents for
their blessings, and my all friends and all others for their help, backing and good wishes.

Finally, I would like to thank everybody who was important to the successful realization of
project report, as well as expressing my apology that I could not mention personally one by one.

ABSTRACT

Modern wireless communication systems call for ultra wideband operations to meet the
continuous growth in the number of users of these systems. Since antenna is an integral part of
any wireless communication system (transmitter or receiver), designing antennas with good gain
over large bandwidth needs to be considered first. To meet the popular demand, wireless
communication systems should be as cheap as possible which require antennas with small size,
light weight, low profile and low cost, and that are easy to fabricate and assemble. Most of the
wideband techniques for microstrip antennas utilize complicated geometries such as stacked
multiple metal/dielectric layers, complicated feed arrangements etc., which elude the primary
attraction of microstrip antennas. On the other hand, single layer suspended configurations are
considered the best choice as these are simple to fabricate and assemble.

The objective of this project/study/research is to investigate simple microstrip antennas

with large bandwidth. A single layer suspended microstrip configuration was chosen for the
purpose. In the first part of the research, the bandwidth was increased to about 50% with linear
phase characteristics by optimizing the feed configurations while retaining the overall simplicity.
This study has resulted in proposing a criterion for obtaining maximum bandwidth in the
suspended microstrip configuration.
