1. Mummification-to make (a dead body) into a mummy, as by embalming and drying.

2. Sphinx-a figure of an imaginary creature having the head of a man or an animal and the body
of a lion.

3. Anubis- the god of tombs and weigher of the hearts of the dead: represented as having the
head\of a jackal.

4. Pharaoh-a title of an ancient Egyptian king.

5. Deity- a god or goddess.

6. Cartouche-Architecture. a rounded, convex surface, usually surrounded with carved


ornamental scrollwork, for receiving a painted or low-relief decoration, as an escutcheon.

7. Dynasty-a sequence of rulers from the same family, stock, or group:


the Ming dynasty.

8. Sarcophagus-a stone coffin, especially one bearing sculpture, inscriptions, etc.,often displayed
as a monument.

9. Hieroglyphics-Also, hieroglyphical. designating or pertaining to a pictographic script,


particularly that of the ancient Egyptians, in which many of the symbols are conventionalized,
recognizable pictures of the thing represented.

10. Obelisk-a tapering, four-sided shaft of stone, usually monolithic and having a pyramidal
apex.

11. Colossus- the legendary bronze statue of Helios at Rhodes.

12. Delta-the fourth letter of the Greek alphabet (Δ, δ).

13. Nile River-a river in E Africa, the longest in the world, flowing N from Lake Victoria to the
Mediterranean. 3473 miles (5592 km) long; from the headwaters of the Kagera River, 4000 miles
(6440 km) long.

14. Silt-earthy matter, fine sand, or the like carried by moving or running water and deposited as
a sediment.
15. Unification-the process of unifying or uniting; union:
the unification of the 13 original colonies.

16. Papyrus- a tall, aquatic plant, Cyperus papyrus, of the sedge family, native to the Nile valley:
the Egyptian subspecies, C. papyrus hadid, thought to be common in ancient times, now occurs
only in several sites.

17. Social Pyramid-Egyptian Social Structure. ... In the social pyramid of ancient Egypt the
pharaoh and those associated with divinity were at the top, and servants and slaves made up the
bottom. The Egyptians also elevated some human beings to gods. Their leaders, called pharaohs,
were believed to be gods in human form.

18. Economy-thrifty management; frugality in the expenditure or consumption of money,


materials, etc.
