Phonemic awareness is a subset of phonological awareness; it
encompasses several abilities including: 1) The ability to listen and hear different phonemes 2) The ability to separate words into phonemes 3) The ability to combine phonemes to create a single word
Phonics is a method used to teach reading and writing skills by
developing phonological and phonemic awareness. This method improves reading and writing by helping student identify the relationship between sounds and spelling patterns.
