Text should be:
– Appropriate for the target audience.
– Text is the most basic element of multimedia.
– A good choice of words could help convey the
intended message to the users.
– Used in contents , menus, navigational buttons.
– For Example
• Road Safety Instructions
• Instruction Manual’s
Multimedia Elements: Graphics
• Graphics are an important part of the
communication process.
• Two dimensional figure or illustration.
• Could be produced manually ( by drawing,
painting, carving, etc.) or by computer graphics
technology.
• Particular information can be explained more
clearly with the help of graphics.
• For example:
– Road Safety Manual in which we can look at the
image and can guess what is the next step to
take.
Multimedia Elements: Graphics
• Graphics editing programs allow designers to draw,
paint, or edit images.

• A combination of different graphic programs may


be used in creating multimedia titles.
Multimedia Elements: Animation
• 2-D and 3-D animations are useful in multimedia
in the areas of entertainment, education, and
training.
• They can be much easier to understand because
they are less complex than video.
• 2-D animations have smaller file sizes that video
files which means quicker loading or downloading
of the files.
Multimedia Elements: Sound
• Sounds in multimedia titles could include:
– Music.
– Narrations.
– Sound effects.
– Original recordings.
• Sound waves are vibrations that are created when
we speak.
• Sound waves are analog signals because they are
continuous, fluctuating waves with no
interruptions.

• Computers are digital machines, meaning that they
represent data with 1s and 0s.
• To use sound on the computer, the sound waves
must be converted from analog to digital form, or
digitized.
• This conversion process is called sampling.

• Business use multimedia to sell products
and services to the customers all over the
globe.
What is E-Commerce?
• E-commerce is business transactions
conducted over internet. These are as
follows:
– Business –to-Business(B2B)
– Business-to-Consumer(B2C)
– Customer Service
– Advertising

• Multimedia and the internet have
provided new ways of teaching and
learning, such as:
– Distance Learning for virtual classrooms
or online schools
– Computer Based training (CBT) that
allows people to learn at their own pace.
Multimedia in Health Care
• Multimedia computer technology has
created exciting developments in
health care. It is used for:
– Telemedicine: Physicians can diagnose
and monitor patients at remote locations.
– Medical Training: Physicians, nurses,
medical researches and technicians can
get information or use simulations as
part of their training.
