FX5U GXW3 Loading Project using SD Card
Use the following setup such that the SD card can be used to automatically download project into FX5U,
When the download is completed, the SD card can be removed from the FX5U.

Step 1: Memory Card Parameters


In the Boot File Setting, Select System, CPU and Module Parameters, Program, Global Labels (if needed)
and Device Initial Values (if needed) to be automatically booted into CPU at startup.

Step 2: Option 1 - Write to PLC (SD Card)


 Install SD card in PLC
 Go to the Online  Write to PLC… Menu
 In Online Data Operation Screen, Select items that need to be downloaded or “Select All”
 Set Target Drive Selection to SD Memory Card

 Double check that the Global Label (if needed) and Device Initial Value is checked (if needed).

 Write to PLC, and reset CPU

 Boot is completed when SD Card LED stays solid and does not flicker

When this is done, hold down the SD CARD OFF button on the FX5U until the SD Card LED light goes off.
Then remove it from the FX5U. Install the SD Card into other FX5U CPUs and Cycle Power or RESET to
download program and Initial Values to that CPU memory from the SD Card. Repeat as needed.

Step 2: Option 2 - Write to PC Memory Card Slot (SD Card)


 Install SD card in Computer Memory Card Slot
 Go to the Tool  Memory Card Menu
 Select Write to Memory Card….
 Select Path for SD Card location and Select Parameter + Program (F). Select Global Labels as
well (if needed).
 Select Execute to Write to SD Card in PC.

 Once Writing is complete you will see something similar to this on the SD Card in the $MELPRJ$
directory. This directory could be Zipped up and sent via email to be put on a SD Card remotely.

 Power down the PLC CPU, Insert the SD card in the PLC CPU, then Power up the CPU.

The program is now loaded into the CPU.

When this is done, hold down the SD CARD OFF button on the FX5U until the SD Card LED light goes off.
Then remove it from the FX5U. Install the SD Card into other FX5U CPUs and Cycle Power or RESET to
download program and Initial Values to that CPU memory from the SD Card. Repeat as needed.
