The technology and engineering programs at IITE

AND RESEARCH CENTER (IFTARC)

IFTARC, a metallurgical skill development and research centre

of Indus University, is promoted by Electrotherm India Limited
and supported by The Centre for Entrepreneurship Development
(A Govt. of Gujarat Organization) under the Specialized Skill
Development Scheme of the Gujarat Industrial Policy 2009, has
been established under ICRISD.

To educate, train and provide research oriented inputs to
engineering students for foundry related activities.

 INDUS CENTRE FOR WELDING
TECHNOLOGY (ICWT)

A course on ‘Welding Technology’ has been introduced at ICWT.

It is meant for candidates who aspire to become professional
welders. ICWT is a center of Indus University which is promoted
by Electrotherm (India) Limited and supported by the National
Skill Development Center (NSDC) and Center for Entrepreneurship
Development (An organization of Govt. of Gujarat) under the
Specialized Skill Development Scheme of the Gujarat Industrial
Policy 2009. There is a shortage of skilled welders in the industry
inspite of large number of ITI students passing out every year. The
fabrication industry is also looking forward for trained manpower
possessing basic minimum skills. Despite the requirements of the
fabrication industry, they are unable to organize training in all
round skills, particularly to very raw people like students. Further,
the remuneration without basic skills is poor; hence people are not
attracted to tiresome fabrication floor jobs.

It is with this background that a fabrication training center is being

conceived, to bridge the gap of shortage of skilled manpower, and at
the same time make a career in fabrication more rewarding.

 DASSAULT INDUS COLLABORATIVE LEARNING &
INNOVATION PROGRAMME (DICLIP)

As a part of ICRISD, DICLIP has been initiated at Indus University

in association with Dassault Systems to facilitate students in
enhancing their engineering skills and knowledge through working
on projects in an industry-like environment using Dassault V6 for
Academia as the learning platform.

DICLIP is a one-of-its-kind programme in India and focuses in

bringing out creativity in students through project based learning
which is based on a practical approach. The students are not bound
by rigid or set curriculum and training provided is of a flexible
nature. The innovative approach enables the student to apply
knowledge of engineering principles in real-life scenarios and to
be able to verify the results observed. The students work in multi-
disciplinary teams and are given exposure to a work experience
similar to that of a real-world engineering design environment.

INDUS GLOBAL EDUCATION [IGE]

IGE continuously strives to bring the best of the world to their

students. This is achieved by undertaking exchange activities with
international institutes of excellence in the field of higher education
through collaborative MOUs with the University of Ontario, Institute
of Technology, Canada; Vaughn College, NY, USA; and Jaramogi
Oginga Odinga University of Science & Technology, Bondo, Kenya.
Recently, Indus University in partnership with the Indo-China
Economic Council (ICEC) has signed an MOU with SIAS International
University, the First American University in China on 29th Nov 2013.

Spread across over 600 sqm, the well-stocked library

is a source of latest information related to diversified
disciplines of science, engineering, and management
which supports students and faculty in learning and
research. It has a collection of over 25,000 titles besides
subscriptions of more than 250 national and international
journals. It also possesses electronic resources on books,
journals, project reports along with CDs and DVDs on
specific topics of interest. One can also find reprographic
facilities in the library. It follows the Dewey Decimal
Classification System for the arrangement of books and
established practices in lending its resources to the faculty
and students.

The library has an Online Publication Access Catalogue

(OPAC) permitting users on the campus to access the
catalogue from their desk. Also, the Indus library has
an institutional membership with ADINET and DELNET
providing online access to a large number of e-books
and e-journals.

TRANSPORTATION

The University has a safe and secure transport service

for faculty members and students on specific routes
covering more than 60% of the city. Apart from this,
buses bearing number 51/A of AMTS (from Lal Darwaja to
Rancharda Village via: Palodia Tekra - Palodia Village &
Indus University, covering 44 stops) provide more than 12
services daily.

 SPORTS AND COMPETITIONS

Indus University has always encouraged students’

participation in extra-curricular activities not only by
hosting specific sports events but also sponsoring the
participants in competitions held elsewhere. Apart from
creating infrastructure and facilities for a variety of indoor
and outdoor games, it has also sponsored several such
events held by others.

Indus campus has modern hostel facilities for both boys

and girls. These have onsite indoor sports facilities. The
hostels also have an onsite cafeteria and a food court.

 COMPUTING FACILITY

Indus University has leased line internet connection which

is locally networked and connected through more than
20 Wi-Fi routers covering the entire campus. Computer
laboratories are equipped with the most advanced
systems for both Windows and Linux servers. Students can
get hands-on experience on the latest software packages
and programmes and browse selected internet sites at
the same time. All e-books and study material including
all academic related data can be accessed through
campus connectivity. With 24x7 internet connectivity and
full-fledged integration with Google Apps, information
sharing across various platforms is very fast.

CANTEEN

The canteen at Indus caters to different tastes and

preferences of students, faculty members and staff alike
by providing refreshing, mouth-watering vegetarian
delicacies. The food served at the canteen is examined
regularly for its nutrition value and hygiene. The canteen
can accommodate around 200 students at a time. Steam
boilers are used for cooking rice and other vegetables to
offer hygienic and nourishing food.
