Lab 1: Adding Storage Centers in Enterprise Manager
Purpose
Upon completion of this lab, the student will be able to add a Storage Center
into the Enterprise Manager client.

STEP-BY-STEP
Connecting to the server
1. Open a remote session using Remote Desktop Connection or a similar
program on your laptop/desk computer.
2. Enter the appropriate server IP address from the handout
3. Login to the training server with the credentials listed on the handout.

Explore Enterprise Manager
1. Highlight your Storage Center on the left.
2. Click the Summary tab if it is isn’t already selected.
3. From the Status screen, note how much available space you have: _________

Lab 2: Creating a Server
Purpose
Upon completion of this lab, the student will be able to create a server in
Enterprise Manager. The student will also be able to modify the server
properties by adding an HBA.

QUICK STEPS
1. Login to Enterprise Manager
2. Create a server folder called “Training Servers”.
3. Create a server named MySrv(#) (enter the server number that was assigned)
with both Fibre Channel HBAs and using Windows 2008 MPIO.
4. Configure the iSCSI initiator on the server.
5. Add the iSCSI HBA.
STEP-BY-STEP
Login to Enterprise Manager
1. Open Enterprise Manager if it isn’t already open. Double click on the Dell
Enterprise Manager Client shortcut on your desktop.
2. Login to Enterprise Manager using the admin username and password of
mmmm (4 m’s).
Create a Server
1. While still on the Storage tab, highlight Servers in the center pane.
2. Click Create Server from the menu bar on the upper right.
3. In the Name field, enter “MySrv#” (# equals your server’s number).
4. Click Change across from the Server Folder option and select the “Training
Servers” folder.
5. Click OK.
6. In the Operating System field select Windows 2008 MPIO from the dropdown
box.
7. Check the box next to “Alert on Lost Connectivity”.
8. In the HBAs list, select both Fibre Channel HBAs.
9. Click OK to close the window.

Configure the iSCSI Initiator
1. On the server’s desktop, double click on the iSCSI Initiator icon.
2. Click on the Discovery tab.
3. Click the Discover Portal… button on the right toward the center.
4. In the Discover Target Portal window, enter the Controller’s iSCSI IP address
Target the Control Port if running in Virtual Port mode.
Target the Primary IP’s if running in Legacy mode.
5. Click the Advanced… button.
6. In the Advanced Settings window, in the Local adapter: field, select “Microsoft
iSCSI Initiator” from the dropdown box.
7. In the Initiator IP: field select the server’s iSCSI IP address.
8. Click OK to close.
9. Click OK on the Discover Target Portal screen to close.
10. Click the Targets tab.
11. Highlight the connection with the status of “Inactive”.
12. Click the Connect button.
13. In the Connect to Target window, check the box next to “Enable mulit-path”
14. Verify the checkbox next to “Add this connection to the list of Favorite Targets”
is checked.
15. Click OK to close.
16. Click OK to close the iSCSI Initiator Properties window.
Note: If volumes have been previously mapped to the server, adding an HBA adds
that HBA to the mappings automatically.

Lab 3: Creating and Mapping a Volume
Purpose
Upon completion of this lab, the student will be able to create a volume and
map it to the server. The student will then present the new volume to a
Windows server.

QUICK STEPS
1. Login to Enterprise Manager.
2. Create a volume folder called “Training Volumes”.
3. Create a 25GB volume named “25GBVOL”.
4. Map the volume to the server.
5. Present the new volume to the Windows server.
6. Format the new volume and copy some data to the new drive.

Login to Enterprise Manager
1. Open Enterprise Manager.
2. Enter the username of admin (case sensitive)
3. Enter the password: mmmm
Create a Volume
1. Highlight the new volumes folder you just created.
2. Click Create Volume from the menu bar on the right.
3. Enter a volume name “25GBVOL”.
4. In the size field, enter 25 and select GB from the dropdown.
5. Verify or select “Training Volumes” in the Volume Folder section.
6. Click OK to close the screen.

Presenting the LUN to Windows
1. Return to the desktop on the server.
2. Right click on the My Computer icon and select Manage (NOTE: the My
Computer icon was changed to reflect the actual server name which will differ
from the name created in Enterprise Manager).
3. From the window that appears, expand Storage in the left hand pane.
4. Click on Disk Management.
5. From the menu bar select Action > Rescan Disks.
6. The new LUN should appear in a moment.
7. Right click on the block labeled Disk <#>, select Initialize Disk.
NOTE: Disk number will be different.
8. Ensure the Disk <#> is checked on the pop up screen.
9. Select MBR, optionally GPT can be chosen (in case the volume needs to be
expanded beyond 2TBs) and click OK.
10. Now right click on the unallocated space with the black bar on the right hand
side and select New Simple Volume.
11. The Welcome screen appears, click Next.
12. Accept the Volume Size by clicking Next.
13. At the “Assign the following drive letter” screen; take the default and click Next.
14. Enter a Volume Label of “25GBVOL”.
15. Check the box to “Perform a quick format” and click Next.
16. On the Completing the New Simple Volume Wizard screen, click Finish.

Set the preferred Multipathing option in Windows 2008
Since your server has both fibre channel and iSCSI, we need to set the iSCSI so it is
not used along with the fibre channel.
1. Right click on the Disk # block.
2. Select Properties from the pop up menu.
3. Select the MPIO tab.
4. Select Round Robin with Subset.
5. From the lower section select a Path Id and click Edit. (There’s no way to tell
which one is the iSCSI until you click Edit).
6. On the MPIO Path Details window verify in the Adapter Name field it says
Microsoft iSCSI Initiator. (If not, cancel and retry the next Path Id).
7. Select Standby from the dropdown field at the top.
8. Click OK to finish.
9. Click OK to close the properties window.

Lab 4: Creating a Volume using the Server Viewer
Purpose
Upon completion of this lab, the student will be able to create a volume and
present it to the server using the Server viewer.

1. Login to the Enterprise Manager Client.
2. Select the Servers viewer from the menu on the lower left.
3. If the server is not shown, register the server.
4. Highlight the server and create a 35GB volume named EMVOL1.
5. Take the rest of the defaults.
6. Verify the volume is present under the volumes section.
7. Copy some data to the new volume.

Lab 5: Space Recovery

QUICK STEPS
1. Login to the Enterprise Manager Client.
2. In the Data Collector Settings, enable Automated Space Recovery.
3. Under the Servers viewer, select the server and edit the server settings.
4. Enable the “Allow Automated Space Recovery” option.
5. Configure Space Recovery to occur Daily.

Configuring Space Recovery - Data Collector
1. Login to Enterprise Manager.
2. Click the Edit Data Collector Settings button on the upper menu bar in the
upper right hand corner.
3. Select the Server Agent option on the left.
4. Check the box to enable Space Recovery.
5. The space recovery time can be configured, take the default for this exercise
6. Click OK to save the settings.

Lab 6: Expanding a Volume
Purpose
Upon completion of this lab, the student will create a new volume and present
it to the server. The student will then expand the capacity of the new volume.

QUICK STEPS:
1. Create a 10GB volume named “EXPANDVOL” in the Training Volumes folder.
2. Map it to your server.
3. Rescan disks, initialize the new disk, and format it using the next available drive
letter.
4. Copy some data from the Student Share to the new drive.
5. Expand the volume to 20GB in Enterprise Manager.
6. Return to the server and expand the volume in Windows Disk Manager.
STEP-BY-STEP:
Create a new 10GB volume named EXPANDVOL and present it to the server
1. Using the Server viewer, create a 10GB volume named “EXPANDVOL”
2. In the Create Volume wizard, select Volume Settings toward the bottom.
3. Select the Training Volumes folder.
4. Click OK to close the window.
5. Click OK to create the volume and map it to your server.
7. Open Windows Explorer and copy some data from the Student Share into the
new EXPANDVOL volume.

Expanding the volume on the server
On the Windows server, use the Extend Volume wizard to extend the “EXPANDVOL”
volume.
1. Open the Server Management tool by right clicking on the My Computer icon
and selecting Manage.
2. Expand Storage and select Disk Management.
3. From the top menu, select Rescan Disks so the server sees the additional
space.
4. Right click on the current partition (blue bar section) then select Extend
Volume….
5. The Windows Extend Volume wizard opens.
6. Take the defaults to extend the volume.
7. What is the new size of the EXPANDVOL volume now? _________
8. Copy some new data from the Student Share to the EXPANDVOL volume.

QUICK STEPS
1. Create a new volume folder called CMM.
2. Create a 7GB volume named COPYVOL in the CMM folder.
3. Map the volume to the server and present it to Windows.
4. Label the new drive as COPYVOL.
5. Copy some data to COPYVOL.
6. Create a copy of COPYVOL called Copy of COPYVOL in the CMM volume
folder.
7. Check the box to copy the replays.
8. Map the Copy of COPYVOL to the server and present it to Windows.
9. Label it in Windows as Copy of COPYVOL.
10. Verify the data matches the original COPYVOL.
11. Delete data from COPYVOL and verify that it did not delete from the Copy of
COPYVOL.
STEP-BY-STEP
Create a volume folder named CMM
1. Login to Enterprise Manager and select the Storage viewer.
2. Highlight your Storage Center and click on the Storage tab.
3. Highlight Volumes.
4. Select Create Volume Folder from the menu bar in the upper right.
5. Call the new folder CMM.
6. Select the Servers viewer.
7. Highlight your server and click Create Volume from the menu bar in the upper
right.
8. Name the new volume COPYVOL.
9. Set the size to 7GB.
10. Click Volume Settings towards the bottom of the window.
11. Select the CMM volume folder.
12. Click OK to close the Volume Settings window.
13. Click OK to create the volume and map it to your server.
14. The new COPYVOL should now be available.
15. Copy some data from the Student Share to the COPYVOL drive.

Create a Copy of the volume
1. Select the Storage viewer.
2. Highlight your Storage Center and click the Storage tab.
3. Click the down arrow on the far right of the menu bar and select Local
Copy>Copy Volume.
4. In the Copy Volume wizard, click the Create Volume button toward the
bottom.
5. In the Name field enter Copy of COPYVOL.
6. Enter a size of 7GB.
7. Select the CMM folder.
8. Click OK to return to the Copy wizard.
9. The new volume should now be displayed under the CMM folder.
10. Select the Copy of COPYVOL volume.
11. Check the box next to Replay Options to Copy Replays.
12. Set the priority to Medium.
13. Click OK to create the copy volume.
14. When the wizard finishes, you are returned to the Enterprise Manager screen.
15. Map Copy of COPYVOL to your server.
a) Highlight Copy of COPYVOL.
b) Click Map to Server from the menu bar.
c) Select MySrv# from the Training Servers folder.
d) Click Create Now.
16. Present it to the server using Disk Manager.
a) Select Action > Rescan Disks from the menu bar.
b) Right click the Disk # block on the left.
c) Select Online, what drive letter did it assign? _______________
17. Verify that the files on both volumes are identical.
18. Delete the file/s that reside on the volume “COPYVOL”
19. Verify that the file/s are gone from “COPYVOL” but still exists on “Copy of
COPYVOL”

2. Map it to the server and present it to Windows.

5. Create a mirror of MIRRORVOL called Mirror of MIRRORVOL.
6. Copy the replays.

7. Enter a size of 8GB.
8. Select the CMM folder.
9. Click OK to return to the Mirror Volume wizard.
10. The new volume should now be displayed under the CMM folder.
11. Select the Mirror of MIRRORVOL volume.
12. Check the box next to Replay Options to Copy Replays.
13. Set the priority to Medium.
14. Click OK to create the mirror volume.
15. When the wizard finishes, you are returned to the Enterprise Manager screen.
16. Verify that both the MIRRORVOL and the Mirror of MIRRROVOL show the
same amount of used space.

Lab 9: Migrate a Volume

volume to a new volume.

1. Create a 9GB volume in the CMM folder named MIGRATEVOL.
2. Map it to the server and present it to Windows.
3. Label the new drive in Windows as MIGRATEVOL.
4. Copy some data from the Student Share to the new drive.
5. Create a migrate volume called Copy of MIGRATEVOL.
6. Copy the replays.
7. Choose Do Nothing from the Post-Migrate Actions.
8. After the migration, verify the mapping has been moved to the Copy of
MIGRATEVOL.
9. Return to the server and verify connectivity to the MIGRATEVOL drive and also
that all data is still visible.
10. Was there an outage? _______

Create a Replay
1. Create a 50GB volume named REPVOL in the Training Volumes folder.
2. Map it to your server.
3. Present it to Windows.
4. Copy data from the Student Share (1 or 2 folders only) and note the folder/s
that are copied into the REPVOL:

5. Create a manual replay of the REPVOL that never expires.
6. Name it “My First Replay”.
7. In Storage > Training Volumes > REPVOL click the Replays tab in the right
hand window.

Recovering data from a replay
1. Delete all of the data from REPVOL.
2. Create manual replay of REPVOL that expires in 1 hour.
3. Name it “Deleted Folders”.
4. What is the size of the Deleted Folders replay? ____________
5. Create a volume from the replay called “My First Replay”.
6. Name the recovered volume View of REPVOL 1.
7. Map the recovered replay (View of REPVOL 1) volume to your server using the
default mapping options.
8. Bring the volume online.
9. DO NOT FORMAT the new volume.
10. Assign the new volume drive R:
11. Label the new volume “Recovered Data”.
12. Note the folders that exist in the Recovered Data volume:

3. Highlight your server and click Create Volume from the menu bar in the upper
right.
4. Name the new volume REPVOL.
5. Set the size to 50GB.
6. Click Volume Settings towards the bottom of the window.
7. Select the Training Volumes folder.
8. Click OK to close the Volume Settings window.
9. Click OK to create the volume and map it to your server.
10. The new REPVOL should now be available.
11. Copy data from the Student Share (1 or 2 folders only) and note the folder/s
that are copied into the REPVOL:

19. Check the box next to “Do Not Expire”.
20. In the Description field, enter “My First Replay”.
21. Click OK to finish.

Create a Replay Profile
1. From the Storage tab highlight Replay Profiles in the center window pane.
2. Click Create Replay Profile from the menu bar in the upper right hand corner.
3. Name the profile “Every 5 Minutes”.
4. Click the Add Rule button toward the bottom.
5. Enter “5 Minute Rule” in the Name field.
6. Select Daily from the top dropdown field.
7. Select the “Time interval” radio button and enter 5.
8. Select “minutes” from the dropdown field.
9. Uncheck the box next to “between” to remove the time restriction.
10. Under Expiration type 30 in the field and then select “minutess” from the
dropdown.
11. Click OK to add the rule.
12. Set the “Replay Creation Method” to Standard.
13. Click OK to create the replay profile.
14. With the 5 Minutes replay profile highlighted, select Apply to Volumes from
the menu bar in the upper right hand corner.
15. Select REPVOL from the list.
16. Leave the “Replace existing Replay Profiles” box unchecked.
17. Click OK to close the window.

Recovering data from a replay (Creating a View volume)
Recover the “My First Replay” replay taken earlier.
1. In Windows Explorer, delete all folders from the REPVOL drive.
2. In Enterprise Manager, from the Storage tab highlight the REPVOL volume.
3. Click Create Replay from the menu bar in the upper right.
4. Set the Expire time to 1 hour.
5. In the Description field, enter “Deleted Data”.
6. Click OK to create the replay.
7. What is the size of the Deleted Data replay? _________________
8. Highlight the replay before the “Deleted Data” replay.
9. From the menu bar above the list of replays, select Create Volume from
Replay on the far right.
10. Accept the default name of “View of REPVOL 1”.
11. Verify it will use the Training Volumes folder.
12. Click OK to create the volume.
13. Note the volume now appears under the Training Volumes folder.
14. With the View of REPVOL 1 volume highlighted, click Map Volume to Server
from the upper menu bar in the right hand corner.
15. Select “MySrv#” from the list and click Next.
16. Accept the defaults and click Finish to close the window.
17. On the server desktop, right click the My Computer icon (NOTE: labeled with
the true server name).
18. Select Manage.
19. Expand Storage > Disk Management.
20. Your drive may already be displayed but if it is not;
a) From Action menu, select Rescan Disks.
21. Note: Since Windows sees a valid header, the partition has the blue bar instead
of a black one. Data already exists on the drive so don’t format it. Right click
on the disk block (Your disk block will have a different number).

25. Open the new drive with Windows Explorer.
List the folder(s) that exist in the recovered volume.

Create a consistent replay profile
1. Using the Server viewer, create two volumes in the Training Volumes folder
named CGVOL1 at 21GB and CGVOL2 at 22GB.
2. Map both volumes to MySrv# using the default settings.
3. Copy 2 folders from the Student Share to each volume.
4. List the 2 folders you copied to each volume:
CGVOL 1 _____________________________________
CGVOL 2 _____________________________________
5. Create a consistent replay profile named CGProfile.
6. Create a schedule that takes a consistent replay every 5 minutes and expires in
1 hour.
7. Add the CGVol’s to the new profile.
8. After 5 minutes, verify that replays have been taken of each volume.

Create two volumes and present them to your server
1. Login to Enterprise Manager.
2. Select the Servers viewer.
3. Select your server from the servers list.
4. Create a volume named CGVOL1 with a size of 21GB.
5. Click the Volume Settings button at the bottom.
6. Select the Training Volumes folder.
7. Click OK to return to the Create Volume wizard.
8. Click OK to create the CGVOL1 volume.
9. Repeat steps 4 through 8 to create a volume named CGVOL2 with a size of
22GB.
10. Using Windows Explorer, record the drive letters and names of the new
volumes here:

11. Copy 2 folders from the Student Share into each CGVOL. Select different

Server Cleanup:
Using Disk Manager, take the following volumes offline: EMVOL1, EXPANDVOL,
CGVOL1, CGVOL2, COPYVOL, Copy of COPYVOL, MIRRORVOL, Mirror of
MIRRORVOL, MIGRATEVOL, Copy of MIGRATEVOL.
1. Right click on the Disk # block for each of the above listed volumes and select
Offline.
Once the volumes have been unmapped you can delete them.
1. Expand Volumes > Training Volumes.
2. Highlight the Training Volumes folder.
3. Right click on a listed volume on the right and select Delete.
4. Take the defaults and click OK to delete the volume.
5. Repeat for the remaining listed volumes above.
Shortcut: To delete multiple volumes, highlight the Training Volumes folder, then use
CTRL-click to select the desired volumes. Right click and select Delete.

Adding the second Storage Center
1. Login to Enterprise Manager.
2. Select the Storage viewer.
3. Highlight Dell Storage at the top of the tree on the left.
4. Click Add Storage Center.
5. Enter the other student’s Storage Center IP address.
6. Username: Admin and password: dell
7. Click Finish to save and exit.
8. You should now see both your Storage Center and the other students Storage
Center.
9. Highlight your Storage Center.
10. Click the Storage tab.
11. Highlight Volumes.
12. Click Create Volume Folder on the menu bar in the upper right hand corner.
13. Name the folder “[your last name] Replications”.

Configure the iSCSI transport for replication
Each student should perform these steps individually, one after the other.
1. Return to Enterprise Manager.
2. Select the Storage viewer.
3. Highlight your Storage Center which is the Source system.
4. Click the Summary tab.
5. From the menu bar, select Actions > Replication > Configure iSCSI
Connections.
6. Select the other student’s Storage Center. This is the Target system
7. Click Next.
8. Select the available iSCSI ports on both systems.
9. Select Gigabit or Greater in the “iSCSI Network Type” field.
10. Click Finish.
11. Wait for the iSCSI ports to connect, this can take several minutes.

Replicate a Volume
1. From the Summary tab, select Actions > Replication > Replicate Volumes.
2. From the list of available systems, select the Target (other students) system.
3. Click Next.
4. Select the [1st Initial+last name] volume from the list, then click Next.
5. Select the following Replication Attributes:
a. Transport Type: iSCSI Only.
b. Type: Asynchronous.
c. Deduplication: Enabled.
d. Replicate Active Replay: Enabled.
e. QoS Node: QoS1.
6. Select the following Destination Volume Attributes:
a. Destination Volume Prefix: Repl of.
b. Add space after Name Prefix: Checked.
c. Storage Profile: Recommended (All Tiers).
d. Create Source Volume Folder Path: Checked.
7. Click Next.
8. Highlight a volume and click Edit Settings to change any replication settings if
needed, otherwise click Finish to start replicating.
9. Select the Replications & Live Volumes viewer from the lower left hand menu.
10. From the Actions menu on the left above the viewers, click Save Restore
Points.
11. Verify both systems are checked and click OK to save.

Activating a Remote Volume
1. In Enterprise Manager select the Replication & Live Volumes viewer from the
menu on the lower left hand side.
2. Click the refresh button next to the title “Replications & Live Volumes”.
3. Select the Restore Points tab.
4. Click the Validate Restore Points option from the menu bar on the left.
This updates the volumes status.
5. Click Activate Disaster Recovery button on the upper right menu bar.
6. Select the original source and destination pair to be activated.
7. Click Next.
8. On the Disaster Recovery Warning screen, check the box next to “Allow
Planned Activate Disaster Recoveries” (During an actual DR activation where
the source side would already be down, you would not need to do this. DO
NOT DO THIS ON PRODUCTION VOLUMES).
9. Click Next.
10. Select your [1sst Initial + last name] volume to be activated on the DR site from
the Available Restore Points then click Next.
11. On the following screen, highlight the volume and click Edit Settings.
12. Click Change across from the Server option to assign the new volume to the
remote server.
13. Check “Use Active Replay” and Click OK.
14. Click Finish to activate the remote volume.
15. Select the Recovery Progress tab.
16. Click the Refresh button in the upper right hand side to update the
information.
17. Verify the remote volume has been activated successfully. This may take a few
minutes.
18. Click on the Storage viewer.
19. Highlight the target Storage Center system.
20. Click on the Storage tab.
21. Expand Volumes.
22. Verify the folder [Your last name] Replications folder exists and expand it.
23. Click the refresh circle near the top of the tree in the center window if needed
to refresh the information.
24. Verify the volume “DR of [1st Initial + last name]” volume is listed.
25. Each student should open Disk Manager on their server and rescan disks.
26. Is your original volume still available?_____________________________

13. Using the existing volumes, assign some volumes to each department.

Configure Chargeback
1. Select Chargeback from the viewer options.
2. Click Edit Chargeback Settings from the Actions menu.
3. On the Edit Chargeback Settings screen select:
a) Enable Charge on Allocated Space.
b) Enable Charge for Replays.
c) Replay Cost ($) = $50.00.
d) Enable Charge for Fast Track.
e) Fast Track Percent Increase: 30%.
f) Assign Cost By: Global Disk Classes.
g) Currency Locale: United States.
h) Enable Use Default Department and take the default. (Note: the first
department created becomes the default unless you change it after
other departments are created).
4. Click Next.
5. Enter a cost of $100 per KB (for example purposes only).
6. Click Finish.

Creating Departments (Marketing, Training and IT)
1. Click the Departments tab.
2. Select Add Department from the Actions menu.
3. Enter the first department name: Marketing
4. Enter a base price of $1000.
5. Enter a Multiplier Percent of 10.
6. Select Premium from the dropdown menu at the end of the field.
7. Enter an account number of 101.
8. Click OK.
9. Click Add Department from the Actions Menu.
10. Enter the name: Training
11. Enter a base price of $300.
12. Enter a Multiplier Percent of 5.
13. Select Discount from the dropdown menu at the end of the field.
14. Enter an account number of 202.
15. Click OK.
16. Click Add Department from the Actions Menu.
17. Enter the name: IT
18. Enter a base price of $500.
19. Enter a Multiplier Percent of 0.
20. Enter an account number of 303.

Viewing a Chargeback Report
1. Select Chargeback from the viewer options.
2. Select the Chargeback Runs tab.
3. Each Chargeback report is displayed in a list on the left hand side.
4. Select the first report.
5. Note the costs shown on the chart.
6. Select the Table tab on the menu bar at the top on the right.
7. Note the total cost for each department:
a) Marketing: ___________________________
b) Training: ____________________________
c) IT: _________________________________
8. Select the Dynamic Capacity Savings tab and note the reports for each
Storage Center.
9. Select the Data Instant Replay Savings tab and note the reports for each
Storage Center.
10. Select the Data Progression Savings tab and note the reports for each Storage
