universities in the Asia Pacific Region.

MISSION
The university responds to the needs of the industry and the community through applied
research and utilizes the outputs to benefit UC and its neighbors. The university focuses

BACHELOR OF SECONDARY EDUCATION

OBJECTIVES

Deeply concerned with the preparation of globally competitive teachers imbued with
holistic ideals, aspirations and traditions of Philippine life, the Bachelor of Secondary
Education aims to produce graduates who

as English Majors:
1. can show mastery in terms of fluency and accuracy I the production of English
language items;
2. can engage in extra- and co-curricular activities that will supplement English
language and teaching;
3. can demonstrate strategies in teaching the four modes of communication. i.e., listening, reading,
speaking and writing;
4. are competent and competitive teachers of English in High School, ESL,
classrooms, call centers, and community’s literacy programs; and
5. can surpass the national passing percentage in the Licensure Examination for
Teachers (LET).

as Math Majors:
1. can show competence in teaching the different fields in mathematics;
2. can keep themselves abreast with the latest trends in mathematical pedagogies;
3. can integrate values in the context of teaching mathematics; and
4. can surpass the national passing percentage in the Licensure Examination for
Teachers (LET).

as Social Studies Majors:


1. can impart to the learners the love for the Social Sciences;
2. can express competency in building bridges across Social Science discipline;
3. can asses socio-economic conditions of life by conducting surveys and
researches;
4. can instill to the learners the value of awareness in the current trends and issues
related to globalization; and
5. can surpass the national passing percentage in the Licensure Examination for
Teachers (LET).

as Physical and Biological Science Majors:


1. can assess phenomena through the scientific method of thinking;
2. can innovate teaching approaches and methods that could develop scientific
attitude and environmental awareness;
3. can synthesize scientific data coming from various disciplines;
4. can appreciate nature through application of knowledge gained from the physical
and biological sciences; and
5. can draw out new insights from knowledge learned from the various science
disciplines towards passing the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET).

as Filipino Majors:
1. can teach effectively in Filipino keeping in mind the current directions in teaching;
2. can show teaching competence by expressing their ideas accurately and fluently
in Filipino;
3. can participate actively in different activities that promote the development of
national language; and
4. can achieve a consistent passing percentage in the LET higher than national
percentage.

as PEHM Majors:
1. can display knowledge and appreciation to arts like painting, architecture,
sculpture, music, and dance towards becoming effective teachers;
2. can utilize art such as music, painting and dance as a continuing recreational
resource and means foe aesthetic skill development;
3. can discover possibilities of music for cultural refinement, vocational exploration,
and spiritual strength;
4. can organize shows, performances, and exhibits related to sports and music so as
to develop sensitivity to arts and culture in the different aspects of life;
5. can be active participants in building the practical and athletic skills among
students; and
6. can surpass the national passing percentage in the Licensure Examination for
Teachers (LET).

educational institution in the Visayan Region that values education both as tool for
empowering of individuals with fundamental learning for their own well-being, and as a
strategy for accelerating personal and social development.

MISSION

Anchored on its vision, the University of Cebu High School Department provides the
learners with the essential knowledge, skills and attitudes that allow them to improve
their quality of life and increase their opportunities to participate in and benefit from
social and economic development.

GOALS

Coherent with this mission, the University of Cebu High School Department aspires to:

1. provide the learners with academic, scientific, technological, and vocational


knowledge, skills and attitudes essential in meeting the demands of time;
2. enhance the individuals’ emotional, social-cultural and spiritual needs;
