P.S : Planning the manufacturing processes of a Segway and incorporation of
automation systems in the Industry

SEGWAY:
A two-wheeled personal vehicle consisting of a platform for the feet mounted above an axle and an
upright post surmounted by handles, controlled by the way the rider distributes their weight.

It consists of following parts


1. Two Wheels
2. Handle
3. Shafts
4. Horizontal base
The following methods are being employed in manufacturing the individual parts

1. Handle:
• The initial material is going to be in form of billets(instead of raw metal)
• These billets are cut into required shape(of handle) by milling(material removal process)

2. Wheels:
• Wheels will be purchased from another supplier and assembled in the plant

3. Shafts:
• Shafts of different sizes for the mounting rod, shafts for wheels

4 Horizontal base:
• This can be cut from thick rectangular plates
• Punching and Blanking techniques for holes
• Sheetmetal working is also used for produced casing type structures
• Holes can be drilled for placing fasteners to connect it to shafts
