2. Brief introduction of our furnace


Working principle: after thermocouple changes temperature to signature voltage, it will connect to

micro-computer temperature-control equipment Temperature control equipment will compare the

signature with programmed setting data then micro-computer will follow the data, positive and negative

value also time calculating then produce a control signature which shows the furnace temperature

changing. Using this signature to drive electrical elements like power model, solid power relay, exchange
contactor, etc) to meet the purpose of control chamber temperature. The furnace uses high precise APID
programmed to finish thorough auto-control, digital showing of temperature and process information. 。
Our high temperature furnaces follow the difference of heating element used, can catch respectively three
℃ ℃
temperature phases: 1200 ,1400 and 1700 ℃。 The heating element is Mo included resistance wire;

2.1 Box furnace

The shell use high quality steel plat . The profile looks nice. The furnace goes through of dozens of

process, explicit technical and responsible color collocation surface is with sprayed plastic which make
the furnace can be used long time and will not have the situation of paint falling down. At the same time,

it can be anti-temperature and anti-corrosion The chamber uses alumina ceramic fiber, absorb Japanese

mature technical then compound it is stable with high temperature and has perfect temperature keeping.

Furnace is with double-shell fan cooling can reduce temperature quickly to make the upper temperature
lower soon. Electric circuits design is advanced and reasonable with model control and double circuit line
protecting which can ensure the furnace is used safely. It also use advanced auto PID temperature

2.2 Tube furnace

temperature is between 800 and 1600 ℃。 Furnace tube uses high purity quartz if temperature is under

tubes and the tubes are sealed by flanges. Vacuums pumps help to pull out the gas inside the tubes.

Samples will not be eroded during heating period. Also can fill with inert atmosphere then samples can be
heated or sintered quickly on the fluent atmosphere and vacuum environment. Multi heating zone furnace
is available for materials smelting, sintering, film coating, themolysis under high temperature, CVD

2.3 Atmosphere furnace


Atmosphere furnace is designed for the samples which need to be protected by atmosphere. The chamber
can be filled with inert atmosphere, Nitrogen, also can be pumped out with vacuum. This can avoid
oxidation and decarburization for products and fit to use for industry atmosphere protected sintering and
restore. Fixing atmosphere furnace need to fit with valve, flow controller, piezocontroller, etc. The
furnace is with perfect seal, vacuum can get -0.1MPa with simple operation and easy loading.

2.4 Crucible furnace


Our crucible furnace is series of batch type furnace; it is used in industries, research institutes and
laboratories for metal and ceramic's baking, melting analysis and small steel heating. There are two shapes

for box: cylinder and square it can fitted with stainless steel flange to compose vacuum crucible furnace

which mainly used for refining or high purity compound also can be used for annealing or Diffusing
semiconductor chips and material research.

3. Instruction of Furnace

3.1 Turn on the furnace:


① In accordance with the correct wiring behind the furnace to connect the wiring, and also equipped with
suitable circuit breakers according to the power.
② Closed circuit breakers, turn on the power, the power indicator will be lights. At the same time, while
the cooling fan start to work.
③ Clockwise turn the “Lock” key , the temperature controller will be ready for working (Fig.1).
④ Input the temperature curve on the temperature controller, after finished, please do remember to setting
"t××-121"(Fig.2) (detailed instruction please see the following instruction chapter 4.)

⑤ After setting, the controller will return to the basic state.(Fig.3)
⑥ Press the “Turn on” button, and turn on the power.
⑦Press the button for 2 seconds, and SV will display“RUN”, the controller will be into the auto
control process, the furnace will be to run, then the furnace temperature began to rise.
⑧Check the furnace in good running.
3.2 Turn off the furnace:
①After the operation finished, the SV will display“STOP”, if need to stop the operation, press and hold
the button 2seconds, the controller will in the “STOP” state.
②Press the “Turn off” button, close the “Lock” in counter clockwise.
③As soon as the temperature is under 400℃, turn off the power, the indicator will be in dark. The air
cooling will stop in operation.

4. Instruction of intelligent temperature controller


4.1 Description:
① Using the AI adjustment, it can realize up and down temperature controller, it has the instruction on
jump, operation, pause, and stop.
② It has the adjustment system for the input and output, the accuracy will be stable, it can also enlarge the
indicator.
③ Two process function can also be worked very well in the bad circumvent.
④ Accuracy: 0.2

⑦ Protection for the power off: As it is using the EPROM, it makes all the digitals in the controller also be
saved in well.

4.3.3 Basic display state


Basic display state: when power on, the upper display window of the instrument shows the process value
(PV), and the lower window shows the set point (SV).this state is called basic display state. Symbol
description was shown as following table:

4.4 Instruction on the temperature controller


4.4.1 Basic setting
When turn on the “Lock” ,the temperature controller will display the model and version, after several
seconds, it will coming into the original setting ( Version and basic flow) , “PV” for temperature testing,
“SV” for temperature setting, “Stop” for in the stop state, “Hold” for pause state.

4.4.2 Function changing
① Under the basic state or running state, press the button for 1 second, change to be running
state(PV,STEP, SV).(Setting the running step or display the working temperature steps)
② Press the button for 1 second again, switch to running time state ( it will display total running
time, and already running time ,the “SV” display ××× minutes.)
③ Press again, it will return to basic state.

4.4.3 The controller parameter changing:
The operation and accuracy is based on the controller, the parameters details as following:
① In the basic state, press the button for 2 seconds enter into the setting period, and display M5
setting.
② Under the M5 state, press the button for 1 second, the controller will display all parameters, press
the button and using button, it can change the parameters.
③ Press the button for 2 seconds, it can return to the last parameters.
④ Hold the button, then press button, it can exit set condition. If not press these buttons, after
about 25 seconds, it will also exit set condition.
(Our Company Products has been configured of the parameters, if no special requirements to
prohibit modify the parameters value M5, P, t, if you modify these values, the furnace may not to
work.)

4.4.4 Temperature controller run state:
① If controller is on basic state originally ( programmed is on stop state, Display of SV flash to show

4.4.5 Temperature controller Run/Hold state:
① In basal display state, if the program is in stop state (“StoP” is alternately displayed on the lower
window).
② Press and hold the key for about 2 seconds until the lower display window displays the “Run”

symbols; the instrument then will start the program. Display of SV”, will show symbol Hold” “ ,
controller will get into hold state, controller will still execute control and keep the temperature on given
value when it is hold state, but control time will stop increasing.
③ Under hold state, press the “
button and hold for 2 seconds, display of SV” ,will show symbol
“ ,
RUN” controller will restart running.

4.4.6 Temperature controller Stop state:
① Press and hold the key for about 2 seconds in the basic state, until the lower display window
displays the “STOP ” ,
symbol means the stop operation is executed now, when program stopped, timer

will be reset and stop. This operation forces the instrument to stop running, meanwhile, the StEP number
will auto reset to 1, and control output is also stopped.

4.4.7 Temperature Controller Parameters meanings:
①Maintenance Parameters M5:
Be defined output variation as 5%, the D-value after controller led member Basic stability. That is mainly
decide the integral action in the adjust algorithm that is same as the time of integration Of PID adjust ,if
M5 more smaller ,the Integral effect will be more better ,if M5 more larger , the Integral effect will be
more weaker (time of integration increase),when set M5=0, the system cancel the function of integral
action and Artificial intelligence regulatory function.
② Speed Parameters P:
Like as the proportional band of PID regulator, but has the opposite phenomena, if P value increase,
proportion, derivative action show Proportional to enhance, if P value decrease, proportion, derivative
action Corresponding weakened, P parameters no connect with integral action
③ Delay time Parameter t:
Defined as hypothesis there is no heat emission, the time will cost when the heating rate arrives to max’s
63.5% .T Parameter have effect for controller led proportion, integral, differential when T more smaller ,
the effect of proportion, integral will increase ,but the integral effective will be decrease, however the
whole parts feedback will increase ,conversely, if T more larger , the effect of proportion , integral will
decrease, but the integral effective will be increase, the setting have much effective for the of the

controller ,if t Ctl ,the effective of the system will be canceled.
④ Control mode CtrL: (please do not set this Parameter to other value, that will caused the system fail
in work )
CtrL=2 starting the auto tuning Parameter function, when auto tuning ends the Parameter will set to 3

CtrL=3 adopt the advanced AI artificial intelligent controller algorithm, when auto tuning ends, panel into
this Settings ,in this setting can not start the auto tuning to avoid the repeat start the auto tuning
⑤ Output low limit oPL:
OPL is the minimum output of OUTP in single directional control system
⑥ Output upper limit oPH:
OPL limits the maximum of OUTP (main output) when PV<OEF
⑦ Parameter lock Loc
The parameter lock of the furnace inside function, no need to revise by client (please do not set the
Parameter to other value, that will let the system fail in work)

4.4.8 Auto-Tuning
、、
M5 P t control parameter setting correct or not, will keep relation directly with control accuracy of high
temperature furnace. The equipment have went through strict testing under high temperature
pre-burning(speed is 20℃/Min) ,at the same time make sure the control parameter M5、P、t already
according to the furnace character,normally no need any change and can meet 95% customers'
demand. But sometimes furnace environment of different places and different producing technical
demand for different customers, maybe correct operation can not get stable control, now we need to set up
、、
auto-tuning function to control parameter M5 P t .

When AI control method is chosen (CtrL=APId/nPId), the PID parameters can be obtained by running
auto-tuning.

①In basal display state, Press for 2 seconds, the “AT” parameter will appear.
②Press to change the value of “AT” from “off” to “on”, then press to active the auto-tuning
process.
③During auto tuning, the instrument executes on-off control. After 2~3 times of on-off action, the
instrument will obtain control parameter value.
④If you want to escape from auto tuning state, press and hold the key for about 2seconds until the
“At” parameter appear again. Change “At” from “on” to “off”, press to confirm, then the auto tuning
process will be cancelled.
(P.S. If parameter “SPr” activate and the heating was running, then will stop the “At” until completed the
heat up process) If the controller was applied on heat/cooling duel output system, PID parameter need
separate two group to process auto tuning.


When proceed manual parameter we should pay attention to system response curve . If :
① ,
Short period vibration, can reduce P(first choice) increase M5 and t.
② ( ),
Long period vibration, can increase M5 first choice increase P t. 、
③ ( ),
No vibration but net balance is too big, reduce M5 first choice increase P.
④ ( ), ,
Finally can control stably but need too long time: reduce t first choice increase P reduce M5.

We can try each one by one when adjusting,which means increase either parameter M5、P、t or reduce
30%~50%,if control effort is better, then continue to increase or reduce this parameter ,otherwise adjust
anti-clockwise,until get qualified adjusting quality. Normally fix M5 first, if still cannot meet demand,
then fix parameter P、t one by one,until meet demand.

4.5.1 Heating curve operate
Temperature controller program curve is very important, that is the selection of the user to handling the
sintered material, and rightly setting is successfully for material sintering!
① Press the key 1 seconds and release in the display state, the instrument will be in the setup
program state.
② The set point of the current program StEP will be displayed.
③ Pressing or can modify the value.
④ Press can go to next parameter. The program parameters will be displayed in the sequence of
setpoint1, time1, setpoint2, time2.
⑤ Pressing and holding for about 2 seconds will return to the previous parameter. Program step can
modify anytime even the program still in running.
⑥ Pressing the key (don't release) and then press the key simultaneously ,can exit From the
parameter setting. If no key is pressed within about 25 seconds, it will also exit set condition.

4.5.2 For Example Setting


In order to clearly for the temperature controller setting, we strongly suggest refer to follow 6 steps with
the Symbol meaning, use the button, can input the data and finish the set!
Programming of instrument has uniform format of temperatur e- -time temperature, which means
temperature “A”(SP1),passed Time “A”(t01),then reached temperature “B”(SP2).the unit of temperature
set is℃ and the unit of the time set is minute. The following example includes 6 steps, which is linear
temperature heating up, constant temperature, and linear temperature cooling down. Jump cycling, ready,

500 , slope of cooling curve is 10 /minute.

The time needed is 50 minutes to reach (500 ),to SP6.

This is the temperature to be cooled ( 500 )

Please notice: must set t××= -121 when heating program ends .the program should have continuity.
during the running can modify the heating program, and the heating curve will be according to the
modification program , Non professional operator not change any data unless totally understand, if have
any modification mistake will caused the Excessive temperature difference ,over load, if need modify,
please stop the program then revise !

Time Setting

“PAF”)

Set t×× =0 ” The program hold on StEP××,program will hold running and hold
counting time.

4.6 Multiple Heating curves input and use


The intelligent temperature controller can save many curve , that is for client pre set the heating curve
which usually use then start it when use ,follow is example

First heating curve , from 0 to 450 take 45 minutes ,then take 100 minutes from 450 to 1500 ℃

Explanation: AI-708P has the advanced function of flexible program arrangement. Normally, when the
program stops, the StEP will be automatically set to 1.thus if StEP is not change to other value, a program

will start form the step 1.if multiple curves are defined, the control can jump to different curve by setting
step 1 as jump segment.
Fox example: there are three curves with the length of 8 steps represent three groups of process parameter,
they are separately arranged on StEP2- StEP9, StEP10- StEP17, StEP18- StEP25,Setting are as follows:
t-1= -2 Execute the program of the curve 1(StEP2- StEP9)
t-1= -10 Execute the program of the curve 2(StEP10- StEP17)
t-1= -18 Execute the program of the curve 3(StEP18- StEP25)
Note: Can choose the curves by setting the value of StEP “t-1”set to -2.0,-10-18 before the program
startup.

5. Heating elements replacement


5.1 MoSi2 heater replacement:

The resistance of MoSi2 will not change with using time resistance will increase with temperature's
),
raising it only will become aging continuously. Old and new heater MoSi2 can mix to use together. It's
chemical character is same with other ceramic products which is fragile material and easy to be broken

under room temperature it is avoidable if use properly and install reasonable .

5.2 Replacement steps:


① Take of 4 screws on top of furnace, and then open the cover, as (Fig.1);
② (
Take off the screw of clip for heating element, as ( Fig.2). it need to be careful when take off, the
heating element is fragile character and easy to be broken )
③ Take off aluminum plates between connections of heating element, as ( Fig.3).

④ Take off the screws of metal clip for fixing ceramic block, as (Fig.4).
⑤ Take off the ceramic black between rods of U type heating element, as (Fig.5).
⑥ Take off the U type heating element which needs to be replaced, as (Fig.6).
⑦ Replace a new heating element. Please put ceramic block together with the heating element, and make
sure the ceramic block shall fit position as before, as (Fig.7).

⑧ When tighten the screw of metal clip for heating element, please make sure the bottom of U heating

element does not touch the bottom of furnace chamber. Usually the bottom of U element shall rise 15
20mm high from the bottom of furnace chamber, as (Fig. 8).

⑨ Then, follow the procedur e④③②① to tighten screw and finish the exchange of heating element.
⑩ Heater's connection way:MoSi2 is normally with series connection; SiC is always with series parallel
connection.

5.3 SiC heater replacement:


It is simple for SiC replacement. Except the clips exchange is a little different with MoSi2's replacement,
the installing way is almost the same. When individual heater need to replace if damage for some reason,
we should choose with available resistance or change entirely according to other heater's resistance
raising.

6. Maintenance and Cautions and Trouble shooting for typical Problems


6.1 The preparation for start for furnace
① After open the packing ,check the goods are in well condition, whether the thermocouple are in good
installation, and the power installation. When heating the furnace, do remember to turn on the temperature
controller and do not change its setting.
② The furnace must be well grounded, it should has protective shield for the electric connector.
③ To check the flow controller and the gauge, which should be indicate in correct.
④ ~
For the atmosphere furnace, it should be release 3 5 min first. Keep the chamber clean and tidy before
turn on.

6.2 Start the furnace


① When turn on the furnace, the controller should be standby, clockwise the temperature controller , do
not revise the parameter to avoid the furnace can not work properly.
② ℃
For the first time heating or using after long time, it need to heating for 1 hrs around 120 , and 2 hrs

around 300 , this is to avoid to damage the chamber. It can not exceed the rated temperature, otherwise,
it will damage the heating element and chamber.
③ Do not pull all kinds of liquid or melted material, keep the inside chamber clean and tidy.
④ The heating rate should not be too quick, it should consider the melted material and its performance to
avoid pollute the chamber.
⑤ Timely check the temperature controller , pay much more attention on each connector.
⑥ When heating the MoSi2 heater, do not heating long time under 400 ℃~ ℃ 700 , otherwise the MoSi2
will be oxides.
⑦ When heating the Sic heater for long time, it will makes it aging, please adjust the OPH, and check the
controller. Do remember not to replace the new heating element, if it needs to replace too many damage
parts, please do replace it.
⑧ During the working process, the difference can not too much between 200 ℃~ ℃ 300 , otherwise, please
check the “M5,P,t”
⑨ ℃~ ℃
The furnace is for high technical equipment, it can work in well condition under -10 75 , and the
humidity can not be exceed 85%, and without dangerous material besides the furnace.
⑩ The inside furnace must be in positive pressure after the atmosphere into the furnace. The operator
should not be stand in the opposite.

6.3 Daily maintenance for the furnace


① It should be keep tidy and clean for the furnace and the controller , timely remove the impurities, which
must be worked out of the power.
② Take care of the heating element and electric plate, it is forbidden to put the wet material into the inside
chamber.
③ Do not put large parts into the small chamber, also ,if the heating rate too much higher, it will damage
the chamber.
④ As soon as finished the melting, close the furnace door immediately to avoid the cold air coming.
⑤ ℃
If the temperature over 400 , do not open the door to cooling the temperature. It is forbidden using the
compressed cooling air to cool the chamber.
⑥ ℃
If the temperature under 400 , it can close the temperature controller , cut down the power to lower
the temperature.

⑦Timely check the temperature controller system to avoid the temperature out of controller ,which will
damage the heating element and the chamber. Timely adjust the controller and the thermocouple.
⑧Timely check the chamber and the top furnace, if has any abnormal, repair immediately.
6.4 Cautions and Trouble shooting of the furnace
