Session 2 Exercise 3:
Objective: Upload a program to blink external LED connected to one of the GPIO pins.
Steps:
Plug Arduino board to into your computers USB port.
Connect external LED in series with a 1 Kohm resistor to pin 11 as shown in below
picture.
Open Arduino IDE. Go to example section to open blink program (sketch).
Replace LED_BUILTIN with pin number 11.
Select board and port from Tools menu.
Click on upload button to flash program on Arduino mega board.
Once program uploaded external LED will start blinking.
Code:
/*
Blink
Turns an LED on for one second, then off for one second, repeatedly.
*/
// the setup function runs once when you press reset or power the
board void setup() {
// initialize digital pin number 11 as an output.
pinMode(11, OUTPUT);
}
// the loop function runs over and over again forever
void loop() {
digitalWrite(11, HIGH); // turn the LED on (HIGH is the voltage level)
delay(1000); // wait for a second
digitalWrite(11, LOW); // turn the LED off by making the voltage LOW
delay(1000); // wait for a second
}
