Plug Arduino Board To Into Your Computers USB Port. Connect External LED in Series With A 1 Kohm Resistor To Pin 11 As Shown in Below Picture

The objective of this exercise is to upload a program to blink an external LED connected to GPIO pin 11 of an Arduino Mega board. The steps are to connect the LED in series with a 1k resistor to pin 11, open the Blink example sketch in the Arduino IDE, replace LED_BUILTIN with pin 11, select the board and port, and upload the program to make the LED blink on and off.

Session 2 Exercise 3:

Objective: Upload a program to blink external LED connected to one of the GPIO pins.

Steps:

 Plug Arduino board to into your computers USB port.

 Connect external LED in series with a 1 Kohm resistor to pin 11 as shown in below
picture.

 Open Arduino IDE. Go to example section to open blink program (sketch).

  Replace LED_BUILTIN with pin number 11.
 Select board and port from Tools menu.

  Click on upload button to flash program on Arduino mega board.

 Once program uploaded external LED will start blinking.
Code:

/*
Blink

Turns an LED on for one second, then off for one second, repeatedly.
*/

// the setup function runs once when you press reset or power the
board void setup() {
// initialize digital pin number 11 as an output.
pinMode(11, OUTPUT);
}

// the loop function runs over and over again forever

void loop() {
digitalWrite(11, HIGH); // turn the LED on (HIGH is the voltage level)
delay(1000); // wait for a second
digitalWrite(11, LOW); // turn the LED off by making the voltage LOW
delay(1000); // wait for a second
}
