ISSUE 6 : SUMMER TERM 2

July 2019

Dear Parents, Carers and Friends ........

What a year it has been! There have been many highlights, successes and memories made. The children in each
year group have achievements to be proud of and to build upon into next year.
The children in Year 3 settled extremely well into life at EPJS and felt at
home straight away. The start of the year saw them working with the au-
thor Paul Geraghty from which they produced some fabulous work across
the curriculum. They
have enjoyed starting
Inspire Maths, thorough-
ly enjoying their own
books to work in.
Our Year 4 children had
an amazing experience at Lodgehill camping in July. They
took part in various outdoor activities and demonstrated
very good teamwork. They may have come home tired and
slightly bedraggled, and that was just the teachers, but they had a great time and made many happy memories
together.
The Preston Manor school trip was a real highlight for the children in
Year 5, with them experiencing what it was like for the people who
worked in service. It is fair to say that they were rather surprised with
the type of jobs which they were expected to do! They have proved
themselves to be ready for the next step in their educational journey
in Year 6. We know that they will be a year group who will lead from
the front and be positive role-models for the younger children in the
school. Congratulations need to go to Emma J and Peter C who were
voted in as Head Girl and
Boy by the adults in the school, something which they should be
very proud of!
The year began with Fairthorne Manor and ended with ‘Darwin
Rocks’ and Paultons Park - what a year our Year 6 have had! They
grew together at Fairthorne and have continued to go from strength
to strength as a year group, leading from the front and showing the
other children how things are done at EPJS. They will be a hard act
to follow but we wish them all the best for the future in their new
schools and beyond!

I would like to thank you for all your support over the last 7 years. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the
children and families of East Preston Junior School—and I wish everyone well for September.

Dave Lott, Acting Head of School
