Batch Prophecy
Standing here in front with a view of such beauty and elegance in all your faces, I must
say that we have lived up tonight’s grandiose vibe; and, we deserve to be proud of ourselves for
getting dressed and simply being here. Because who would have thought that crazed up students
like us with overloaded minds and sleep-deprived eyes could turn into such graceful ladies and
fine-looking gentlemen.
High school is indeed an avenue for growth and maturity. For the past six years, high
school has become our training ground in becoming these wise, talented, compassionate, and
socially-responsive learners that we are today. Yes, we may have faced hurdles throughout the
course - such as having sleepless study nights when exams are near; pulling off all-nighters to
meet deadlines; waking up the next day with regretful procrastinations; and buying countless
amounts of coffee and milk tea to stay awake to mention a few. Yet, here we are, alive and ready
Some may say that our generation is too dependent, at times rebellious, lazy, and
undisciplined. Let this be our opportunity to prove them wrong and choose to change these
negativities into positive actions that can bring about change in the future. As we go on our
separate ways, we, the Class of 2019, should face the world head on and use our influence in
making a difference.
The future is clear to me: In 10 years’ time, I see Blessed Lucy, Innocent, Benedict,
Bartholomew, Sybil, Ambrose, and Constantius curing the sick and building the foundation of a
I see Blessed Bergamo and Humbert as the well-respected accountants and businessmen
raising the standards of Philippine economy as it meets the levels of global competency through
I see Blessed Frassati as lawyers, philosophers, journalists, politicians and social workers
providing compassionate service to the Filipino people, resolving social issues, and consequently
bringing change in the nation through just powers and mindful social responsibility.
I see Blessed Longo in their respective fields in the visual and performing arts upholding
the Philippine arts and culture through international recognition as well-renowned artists, actors,
A history of exceptional and remarkable skills, talents and intelligence for about 2 years
has defined our Class because our batchmates brought pride and honor to UST - Legazpi as they
have been recognized in school-based, division, regional, national and international levels of
competitions in the fields of Science, Mathematics, Languages, Journalism, Music and Dance,
Arts, Research, and Sports. The institution has also been a big part of our growth in cultivating
our passion for our craft. To Father Arceo, Father Legaspi, Madame Cabredo, Madame Muñoz,
Madame Legson, to all department heads and faculty members, as well as the PISA and all our
beloved parents: our success would not be reached without your unwavering love, patience, and
support. I would like to take this opportunity, on behalf of my batchmates, to applaud your efforts
and hard work, and express our deepest gratitude and say: Thank You, Ma’am! Thank You, Sir!
I would also like to personally acknowledge the SHSG Officers, for without them we
wouldn’t have experienced the successful events we had this school year like the Bunyag AQUI,
AQUIBall, Leadership Training and many more. And to Mommy Genna for all the initiative, hard
work, love, support and guidance to all of us, for the betterment of the SHSG and the whole
student body.
To us seniors our journal for this chapter of our life will have a new scenery, let us all bring
all the morals and life learnings we’ve collected, and be the inspiration and light for many.
It’s sad to think that in a few weeks, we will no longer be senior high school students
tapping our ID’s at the entrance gates. We will no longer be the students running through the
hallways just to reach that 7:15 call time for flag ceremony. And we will no longer see the familiar
faces of friends, classmates, schoolmates, teachers, security guards, cafeteria vendors, and
janitors that we see almost every day for the past two years.
But every journey must come to an end, and we are one step closer in closing this chapter
of our lives. But I believe that this end will become the start of something beautiful as we are
more than prepared to reach new milestones in our lives. Though we will no longer be those
students that we have been, we can still be the proud Alumni of UST-Legazpi. As we carry on with
our lives, let us make our Alma Mater- to - be proud and show the world what TIGERS are made
of, as we instill in our hearts the learnings and values of a Legazpi Thomasian.
