1. The document discusses appropriate research designs for studying issues related to FMCG company Shanker Group. Descriptive and causal research designs are recommended as they can describe characteristics of the population and study cause-effect relationships between variables. 2. Major variables to consider include characteristics of individuals, groups, systems, and environments like gender, age, socioeconomic status, teaching methods, funding levels, and more. 3. A hypothesis is formulated about a potential relationship between lack of appreciation/rewards for employees and degradation of company performance.

Case2: FMCG: Shanker Group

1. Which research design do you think appropriate for the study of this issue? Why?
Ans-Descriptive research design And Causal research design is appropriate for the study
.Because Descriptive research
 Describes the characteristics of the population under study. It is undertaken to
provide answers to questions of who, what, where, when, and how.
 It describes the characteristics of relevant groups, such as consumers, salespeople,
organizations, or market areas.

Whereas Causal research

 Emphasis is on specific hypotheses about the effects of changes of one variable on another
variable.
 It deals with cause-effect relationship. It involves experiment where an independent variable
is changed or manipulated to see how it affects a dependent variable by controlling the
effects of extraneous variables.

2. Identify the major variables that are to be considered while undertaking research?
Ans- A variable is the characteristic or attribute of an individual, group, educational
system, or the environment that is of interest in a research study.
 Variables can be straightforward and easy to measure, such as gender, age,
or course of study. Other variables are more complex, such as
socioeconomic status, academic achievement, or attitude toward school.
 Variables may also include an aspect of the educational system, such as a
specific teaching method or counseling program.
 Characteristics of the environment may also be variables, such as the
amount of school funding or availability of computers.
3. Formulate hypothesis for the study
Research Hypothesis: It is hypothesized that due to lack of appreciation and
rewards there is a change in behavior of employees which degrade the
performance of company.
Discipline and Sub- Discipline: Organizational policy (appreciation and rewards)
Psychology (Behavioral Psychology)
Hypothesis as a question: How to lack of appreciation and rewards there is a
change in behavior of employees which degrade the performance of company?
Paper Title: Lack of appreciation and rewards: Degrade the performance of company
4. Can you suggest any alternative design? Why or Why not?
Ans- Every person have their own way to deal with the situation. So they adopt research
design as per there strategy. Thus, we can suggest alternative design if one can’t satisfy.

 Experimental designs  Narrative research  Sequential
 Non-experimental  Phenomenology  Concurrent

1. What kind of research study should Shridhar undertake? Define the
objectives of his research.
2. Do the stated objectives have scope for a qualitative research?
3. Which methods would you recommend and why?
4. Can you construct a template for conducting the study ?What element
would you advice Shridhar to keep in mind, and why?

Case: 4 Keep your city clean: Environment Concern
