Wind Load For Single or Double Pitch Roof: Use Table 7 & 8 of CP3

This document provides wind load calculations for a double pitch roof building. It specifies: 1) The design wind speed is 29 m/s based on a basic wind speed of 30 m/s with topography and roughness factors applied. 2) The dynamic pressure of the wind is 0.53 kN/m^2. 3) The pressure coefficients for various roof sections are calculated based on roof geometry and tables in CP3, resulting in values between -1 and 0.7.

Wind Load for single or double Pitch Roof

Pitch = Double

1. Wind Load :

1.1 Design wind speed

Vs = S1*S2*S3*V
where
V -- Basic wind speed , V = 30 m/s
S1 -- Topography factor , S1 1.0
S2 -- Ground roughness, building size and height above ground, factor
Ground roughness, 1
Building size, Class : C
Height above ground, = 14.0 m
From Table 3 S2 = 0.98
S3 -- Stattistcal S3 = 1.0

Vs = S1*S2*S3*V 29 m/s

1.2 Dynamic pressure of the wind

q = k*Vs2=0.613*Vs2 = 530 N/m2
= 0.53 kN/m2
1.3 Wind force
(i) Pressure coefficients Cpe for wall
h -- the height to eaves or parapet = 9.0 m
l -- the greater horizontal dimension of a buiding
= 54.0 m
w -- the lesser horizontal dimension of a building
= 42.0 m
h/w = 0.2 l /w = 1.3
Roof Angle = 15

(ii) Cpi = -0.3 or 0.2 whichever the worst

Use Table 7 & 8 of CP3

Cpe Cpi q P
A 0.70 -0.30 0.53 0.530
B -0.2 0.20 0.53 -0.212
EF -1 0.20 0.53 -0.636
GH -0.5 0.20 0.53 -0.371
