KAAKUHAN CONSTITUTION AND BY-LAWS

PREAMBLE
We, the Social Work students of Holy Cross of Davao College, Inc. feeling the
need to organize, to empower, to unite ourselves in harmony with the institutional
objectives and with the Social Work professional goals and philosophy in the service of
humanity and the people we commit to serve, do hereby ordain and promulgate this
constitution.

ARTICLE I
TITLE

Section 1. This organization will be called KAAKUHAN.


“Kahiusa alang sa kalambuan sa katilingbanong katawhan.”
Section 2. KAAKUHAN is an organization of the Social Work student of Holy Cross of
Davao College, Inc.
Section 3. This shall be a non-partisan, non-sectarian and non-profit organization.
Section 4. This constitution will govern official members of Holy Cross of Davao
College Inc.

ARTICLE II
VISION, MISSION AND OBJECTIVES

Section 1. VISION: Students who are totally liberated person called and committed
towards promotion of human rights and development in consonance with the
social, political, economic, psychological, and cultural well-being of all people
regardless of sex, race, creed religion and political affiliations.
Section 2. MISSION: Responding to the needs and demands concerning Social Work
students’ clientele group and community.
Section 3. OBJECTIVES:
1. To uphold the values and principles and philosophy of Social Work.
2. To safeguard the students’ rights and welfare.
3. To provide a setting wherein Social Work students could present their needs
and concerns.
4. To network with their organization working for peace human liberation and
development.
5. To conduct training and symposia that will enhance Social Work education
and practice.

ARTICLE III
MEMBERSHIP

A. Regular – He/she is a bona fide student of Holy Cross of Davao College, Inc.
enrolled in Bachelor of Science in Social Work having major subject.
1. New – New member should pay a membership at the amount of Php50.00
annually.
2. Old – Old members should pay a membership fee at the amount of
Php50.00 annually, the renewal of membership. 20% of the said payment
will be given to JSWAP Mindanao for the annual registration of the school,
and this will also serve as the basis of being a JSWAP Mindanao member.

B. Honorary – He/she is a bona fide student o Holy Cross of Davao College, Inc.
enrolled in Bachelor of Science in Social Work but has no major subject.
Section 2. All regular members are required to pay a monthly due at the amount of
Php5.00 monthly.

ARTICLE IV
ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION

Section 1. Organizational Structure and Function.


Section 2. The General Assembly is the highest body of the organization, it is
composed of all the members of the KAAKUHAN.
Section 3. The Board of Directors shall be composed of representatives of year level
officer. Each year level must sent three representatives specifically the Vice-
President, Business Manager, and Public Relation Officer.
Section 4. The general functions of the standing committee are the following:
1. Hold regular committee meeting.
2. Coordinate respective plans and activities of other standing committees.
3. Submit a budget proposal to the Finance Committee at the start of the
semester for organizational projects.
Section 5. The Documentation Committee shall:
1. Be composed of all secretaries from each year level.
2. Be responsible for the safe keeping of the organization’s records, documents,
minutes, and other paper works necessary for the organization.
3. Be responsible for the official announcement (e.g. call meetings) by the
organization.
Section 6. The Financial Committee shall:
1. Be responsible in the charge of the organization’s fund raising projects.
2. Be responsible for any financial collections, transaction, purchases, and
safekeeping for the organization.
3. Provide a financial report, written or otherwise at the every General Assembly
and Board of Directors meeting and/or upon the request of the President.
Section 7. Publicity and Promotions Committee shall:
1. Be responsible for the publicity and promotion of the organization unless
specified for special projects.
2. Be in charge of the linkages of KAAKUHAN to other organization.
3. Coordinate with the Finance Committee about the fund-raising projects for the
association.
4. Be responsible for the establishment and maintenance of the alumni relations.
5. Take charge of the making of the newsletter and its distribution.

Section 8. The Academics Committee shall:


1. Be responsible for the maintenance and update of the organization’s
academic goal and purpose.
2. Take charge of formulating and alternative common curriculum for BS Social
Work.
3. Be responsible for providing tutorial services to the members whom may
request for such.
Section 9. The Program Committee shall:
1. Takes charge of the flow of the Program of any activity of the organization.
2. Takes charge of special projects for the organization.
Section 10. The Networking/Linkages Committee shall:
1. Be designed to special tasks and purpose not covered by the above standing
committee.
2. Be created by the Executive Board of Directors.

ARTICLE V
THE OFFICERS

Section 1. The Executive Board shall be composed of the following officers:


a. President
b. Internal Vice President
c. External Vice President
d. Secretary
e. Treasurer
f. Public Relation Officer
g. Academic Committee Officer
h. Program Committee Head
i. Networking/Linkaging Committee Head
Section 2. The Executive Board shall hold officer for one academic year.
Section 3. The other member of the Board of Directors through special election among
them shall fill vacancies in the Executive Board other than the position of the
presiden, during the Academic year.

Section 4. The President shall:


a. Supervise all activities of the association.
b. Preside overall meetings of the Board of Directors and the General Assembly,
and vote only in case of a tie.
c. Be the official representative of the organization.
d. Represents and sign contracts or agreement entered into by the Board of
Directors with the other bodies.
e. Perform such other duties as may be necessary or incidental to the discharge
and performance of the function to his/her office.
Section 5. The Vice President shall:
The Internal Vice- President shall:
a. Succeed the president in the latter’s absence or inability to discharge his or
her duties.
b. Preside or authorize a representative to call or preside overall meetings on
his or her committee.
c. Handle the internal affairs of the association.
The External Vice- President shall:
a. Succeed the president in the latter’s absence or inability to discharge his or
her duties.
b. Preside or authorize a representative to call or preside overall meetings on
his or her committee.
c. Handle the external affairs of the association.
Section 6. The Secretary shall:
a. Take down all the minutes of the meetings of the Board of Directors and
General Assembly of the association.
b. Take charge of producing the needed materials to facilitate the
implementation of the association’s activities.
c. Head of the Documentation Committee.
d. Provide the Board of Directors the minutes of the previous meetings.
e. Keep the records of the association.
f. Prepare yearly reports of the activities of the association.
g. Work for the recognition of the association.
h. Maintain information of the bulletin board.
Section 7. The Treasurer shall:
a. Keep records of the association.
b. Issue receipt in behalf of the president and the association.
c. Prepare financial reports twice a semester.
d. Head of the Financial Committee.
e. Diligently and carefully disburse funds of the association for the purpose of
which have been approved.
Section 8. The Public Relation Officer shall:
a. Take charge of the publicity of any activities within and outside of the
association.
b. Head of the Publicity and Promotions Committee.
c. Be in charge of the formulation of letters of invitation or the like for the
secretary to further produce.
Section 9. The Academic Committee shall:
a. Look after the academic important of the members of the association.
b. Head of the Academic Committee.
c. Initiate and expedite projects for the academic welfare of the members.
d. Be responsible for arranging seminar and the like on topics of the relevance
and significance of the members need.
Section 10. The Program Committee shall:
a. Take charge of the flow of the program of any activity of the association.
b. Head of the Program Committee.
c. Host the program of the organization unless he/she chosses to delegate the
job.
Section 11. The Networking/ Linkaging Committee shall:
a. Take charge of the outside activities that are not covered by any committee.

ARTICLE VI
QUALIFICATIONS OF THE OFFICER

Section 1. No member shall be elected to any office unless he/she is of good moral
character and has been member of the association for at least one academic
year preceding the election.
Section 2. No member shall be elected to any office unless he/she intend to enrol in
BS Social Work.
