Q: 1:- What is Ms Windows?


Microsoft windows is an operating system and software was developed in 1985 to 1996 by
Microsoft Corporation in USA. Ms Windows has different versions such as Windows
2000, Windows Vista & XP, Windows 7, 8 and 10. Ms Window provide the facilities and
communication the other Softwares. Ms Windows is a Multi task operating system and Ms
Window is a “Graphical User Interface” (GUI) operating system. It is very easy to learn
and to operate and is a user friendly operating system.
Q: 2:- What is MS?
MS is the abbreviation of “Micro Soft” and Microsoft is a company/corporation name.
Mr. Bill Gates is the owner of Microsoft Company.
Q: 3:- What is the meaning of word Window?
The application program in windows operating system is opened in rectangular area on the
desktop. This rectangular area is known as window.
Q: 4:- What is Desktop?
The coloured area on the monitor screen that contains small Images, or Graphic object and
a taskbar at bottom of screen is called Desktop, because the surface of screen looks like a
desk. Actually desktop is the interface of windows, which contains the Icons, Taskbar etc.
that allow the user to interact with the computer to perform different operations.
Q: 5:- What is Taskbar?
The bar at the bottom of desktop that displays the current performing task or programs
running on the computer is known as Taskbar.
Q: 6:- What is ICON?
A small picture on a computer screen, it represents a computer activity. In windows,
program applications, computer files and hard ware devices etc are represented in the form
of small Images/Pictures are known as Icons.

Q: 7:- What is Folder?
An alternative name for a directory is called Folder.
Q: 8:- What is My Document?
My Document is also a special folder on the desktop. It is the standard folder of windows
is created automatically when windows installed. When you save a document graphics or
other files is automatically saved in my computer unless you choose a different location.
Q: 9:- What is Recycle Bin?
The Recycle Bin is a special folder on the desktop. It contains files and folders that are
deleted from the Recycle Bin. Any files and folders you deleted that are transferred in the
Recycle Bin.
Q: 10:- What is My Computer Icon?
It is the special icon on the desktop. It is very important object used for interfacing with
Computer, and user to see easily what are in his computer, such as Floppy Drive “A”, C,
D, E, F, and CD Rom Drive etc.
