Piping Lay Out

1. Piping layout standards specify that hydrocarbon lines should not pass through other process units and should have minimum separation distances from units, with greater distances required near light ends and fired heaters. 2. Utility lines critical to process unit safety must be located according to specified guidelines. 3. Minimum vertical clearances between piping and grade or floor plates must conform to specified standards, with greater distances required above roads and railroads compared to within process units.

PIPING LAYOUT

SCOPE
This standard describes the general requirements governing

the layout of piping systems

LAYOUT
Lines carrying hydrocarbons to process units shall not
pass through another unit that will be turned around

These lines shall be located at least

4.5 0 from other process areas, except that a 6 m

spacing is required from light end units and fired

heaters

2.2 Utility lines critical to safe operation or shutdown of

i a process

2.1
unit shall be located according to Subsection

Mini~m vertical clearances between the finished grade

(or top of the floor plate) and the bottom of the

piping insulation, or support beam (whichever is critical
