Building Blocks Curriculum Outline

The curriculum outline describes a 10-part educational CNC machining series called Building Blocks. Each part has four steps: 1) designing a CAD model from a print, 2) programming the model in CAM software, 3) running the program on a CNC machine, and 4) inspecting and testing the finished part. Resources like prints, tutorials, and textbooks are provided to guide students through each step and part. Completing the series teaches students various CNC machining skills and techniques.

CURRICULUM OUTLINE

TITAN’s Building Blocks is an educational build series designed for 3-

axis mills. The objective of this ten part series is to teach students how
to design, program, and complete parts that meet print specifications.

Each part build in the series has four steps and TITANS of CNC:
Academy provides the resources to complete the ten parts.

➀ Design a solid part model in CAD Software from a dimensioned print.

➁ Program the solid part model in CAM Software.
➂ Load, Verify, & Run the Program on a CNC Machine to complete the part.
➃ Inspect the Machined Part & Complete a First Article Inspection Report*.

*A First Article (FA) Inspection Report will be completed by both the student and the
teacher for each part in the Building Blocks Series. The Inspection Report will determine
whether a student repeats the process (fail) or moves onto the next part in the series
(pass). If the student fails to meet all dimensional  call outs, the student will troubleshoot
and machine another part (or parts) until the part meets the call outs on the print.

Resources provided by the TITANS of CNC: Academy.

➀ DESIGN

1. A dimensioned print for each part in the Series.

2. A step-by-step tutorial to guide the student through the process of
designing the solid part model.

➁ PROGRAM

1. A dimensioned print for each part in the Series. (As seen in ➀)

2. A set-up sheet with a list of programmable tools and instructions for a
successful CNC set-up.

1
3. A step-by-step tutorial to guide the student through the process of
programming the solid part model.
4. A downloadable tool list compatible with Autodesk Fusion 360. This is the
same tool list used by TEAM TITAN to machine each part in the Series.

➂ MACHINE

1. A dimensioned print for each part in the Series. (As seen in ➀ & ➁)
2. A set-up sheet with a list of programmable tools and instructions for a
successful CNC set-up. (As seen in ➁)
3. A step-by-step tutorial to guide the student through the process of
setting-up and CNC Machining a complete part.
4. A digital edition of Fundamentals of CNC Machining, a text book provided
by Autodesk. (Available for FREE on the TITANS of CNC: Academy,
located in the Resources Tab.)

➃ INSPECTION

1. A dimensioned print for each part in the Series. (As seen in ➀, ➁, & ➂)
2. A First Article (FA) Inspection Report.
