 What is Computer?

Computer is and Electronics Device which accept the data process on it and display the result of
output device like (Monitor, LCD).

 What is RAM and ROM?

 RAM Stand for (Random Access Memory).


 ROM Stand for (Read Only Memory).

 What is Volatile and Non-Volatile Memory?

 Non-Volatile Memory:-

It is kind of Memory in Computer system in which data is not lost when the main power of computer
is turn OFF. The best Example of ROM is (BIOS of system).

 Volatile Memory:-

A kind of Computer memory in which the data will be lost/wash when the main power of system is
turn off or shutdown.

 What is Software and hardware?

Software:-

Computer software, or simply software, is a part of a computer system that consists of data or computer
instructions, in contrast to the physical hardware from which the system is built. We cannot touch
software. It is a set of instruction which can be written to do some specific task. In market a number of
different software are available for doing some specific task.

Hardware:-

Hardware is best described as any physical component of a computer system that contains a circuit
board, ICs, or other electronics. A perfect example of hardware is the screen on which you are viewing
this page. Whether it be a computer monitor, tablet or smartphone; it's hardware.
Example :- (Keyboard, LCD)
 What is System Software and also give some Examples of System Software?
System Software:-

A set of instruction which is use to operate system is called system software. And a system software is
best example is Window’s or Operating System.

3. Fedora

 What is Application software and also State some Example of Application Software?

Application Software:-

Application software is also called third party tool. We can use application software for our own
convents and such kind of software can be installed using external source (DVD, USB). This kind of
software is used for user easiness. Example of Application Software is (MS-Office, VLC Player etc).

 What is MS OFFICE?
MS office is a type of Application software and MS-Office is Best tool for multiple works. MS office
is further divided in to different sub tools.

1. MS Office.
2. MS Excel.
3. MS PowerPoint.
4. MS Access.
5. MS Outlook.
6. MS tools.

 MS Office?

MS-Word is secondary tool of MS Office. And in this Application we can make documentation and
other office lettering documents. In MS Word we can make Resume, Worksheets and other different
kind of works.
MS-Word is the most powerful and widely use tool now-e-days. Using MS-Word the following short
keys are used for daily use. Some of the Basic keys are given below.
 Basic & General Keys for MS-Word.

 Ctrl + C = Keys use for Copy any text and Portion.

 Ctrl + X = Key use for Cut any text.

 Atl + F4 = Key use for close any current window.

 Ctrl + Y = Key use for Repeating the Type.

 Ctrl + Z = Key use for Undo Typing.

 Ctrl +} = Key use to Maximize the Current text size.

 Ctrl + P = Key use for Print any document/ basic Command for print.

 Ctrl + F = Key use for Find any text any word with in the text.

 Ctrl + L= Key use for text align.

 Ctrl + E= Key use for Center text align.

 Ctrl + R= Key use for Left text Align.

 Ctrl + J= Key use for Justify the paragraph or text.

 Ctrl+shift++ = key use for Super script.

 Ctrl+= key use for Subscript.

 Ctrl + U = Key use for underline any line or text.

 Ctrl + I = key use for the italic the text style.

 Ctrl + B = key use to Bold the text or Bold any Paragraph or Heading.

 Ctrl + S = key use to save any file.

 Ctrl + W = key use to close the active window.


What us MS-Excel?

MS-Excel is the one of the most power full and widely use tool in MS OFFICE Package now-e-days.
MS Excel is use in Offices, University and all daily routine to make spread sheet, to make salary and
account management system, to solve big and complex economic & finical figures.
Basically MS-Excel is Consist of Rows & Columns.

In General MS-Excel the Row’s will Represented by (Numbers e.g 1 2 3 …), whereas the column’s is
represented by English Alpha bits (A, B, C …).

When we write any variable or any value will place a unique Number which is consists of Column +
Row (e.g A1, A2, B3 …).

In MS –Excel we use many function some of them are built in and we can creates or make function as
per our own requirement in MS-Excel. We can easily analyze any data in MS-Excel and we can creates
different graphs and Different pictorial representation as per our requirement.

In MS-Excel we can creates spread sheet and Make a salary sheet for any company. We can creates
any kind of invoice system for small to medium level business.

As we know the MS-Excel is widely use now-e-days. For frequent and fast use we should know some
short keys which will helps us to minimize the overall time and for better and quick Output.

Some of basic and general use Short keys in MS-Excel are given below.

Basic & General Keys use in MS –Excel.

Shortcut Description

F2 Edit the selected cell.

F3 After a name has been created, F3 will paste names.

F4 Repeat last action. For example, if you changed the color of text in another cell,

pressing F4 will change the text in cell to the same color.

F5 Go to a specific cell. For example, C6.

F7 Spell check selected text or document.

F11 Create chart from selected data.

Ctrl + Shift + ; Enter the current time.

Ctrl + ; Enter the current date.

Alt + Shift + F1 Insert New Worksheet.

Alt + Enter While typing text in a cell, pressing Alt+Enter will move to the next line,

allowing for multiple lines of text in one cell.

Shift + F3 Open the Excel formula window.

Shift + F5 Bring up search box.

Ctrl + 1 Open the Format Cells window.

Ctrl + A Select all contents of the worksheet.

Ctrl + B Bold highlighted selection.


Ctrl + I Italic highlighted selection.

Ctrl + K Insert link.

Ctrl + S Save the open worksheet.

Ctrl + U Underline highlighted selection.

Ctrl + 1 Change the format of selected cells.

Ctrl + 5 Strike through highlighted selection.

Ctrl + P Bring up the print dialog box to begin the printing process.

Ctrl + Z Undo last action.

Ctrl + F3 Open Excel Name Manager.

Ctrl + F9 Minimize current window.

Ctrl + F10 Maximize currently selected window.

Ctrl + F6 Switch between open workbooks or windows.

Ctrl + Page up Move between work sheets in the same document.

Ctrl + Page down Move between work sheets in the same document.

Ctrl + Tab Move between Two or more open Excel files.

Alt + = Create a formula to sum all of the above cells.

Ctrl + ' Insert the value of the above cell into the cell currently selected.

Ctrl + Shift+1 Format number in comma format.

Ctrl + Shift+4 Format number in currency format.

Ctrl + Shift+3 Format number in date format.

Ctrl + Shift+5 Format number in percentage format.


Ctrl + Shift+6 Format number in scientific format.

Ctrl + Shift+2 Format number in time format.

Ctrl + Arrow key Move to next section of text.

Ctrl + Space Select entire column.

Shift + Space Select entire row.

Ctrl + - Delete the selected column or row.

Ctrl + Shift+= Insert a new column or row.

Ctrl + Home Move to cell A1.

Ctrl+ ~ Switch between showing Excel formulas or their values in cells.


MS– Power Point

MS-power Point is the third most important tool use in MS Office Library now-e-days. MS-Power
Point is an application software which is use to creates a presentations.

Now-e-days in offices, schools, colleges and University this tool become the key or backbone, because
in PowerPoint we can make a slide show presentation by which we can easily explain any project detail,
any assignment or research finding in pictorial and in Visual form which is very helpful to easily
understand the main concept of hole discussion. The extension of PowerPoint when we save our project
is in .ppt format. In market many version of MS – Office are available MS-PowerPoint is also available
in all MS-Office versions.

For the Purpose to present any results or Project progress we must create an Slide show or Presentation
file in which we can start with very basic and then move step by step. In MS-Power Point we can import
any kind or type of Image from internet and from backup source. We can also Add Excel Sheet File to
show the Progress in finical department or year. We can also insert hyperlinks and also we can place a
video file in Power point file for further use during Presentation.

We can Insert or create a new project and in PowerPoint Number of short keys and methods are
given below by which we can use to reduce the Overall time.
