Applications Years 8 - 11, 2020: Classes/years-8-To-12/application-Process
All students applying for Fort Street High School should include the following with their application:
1. Completed Selective Schools Application Form available on the Selective High School website:

2. English writing piece of maximum 600 words (handwritten – no typed versions):
Essay Topic: (Discuss)
Should the human rights records of bidding countries be taken into account when
awarding international competitions such as the Football World Cup or Olympics?
3. A copy of the student’s Birth Certificate or Passport. The original document will need to be
supplied, only should your child qualify for an interview. We are unable to assist with
photocopying of documentation, kindly arrange this prior to submitting the application;
4. Copies of school reports - Semester 2, 2018, Semester 1, 2019 and most recent NAPLAN results;
5. Copies of evidence of recent participation in academic competitions and co-curricular activities;
6. English, English Writing and Mathematics Competition results or other evidence of
performance in literacy and numeracy;
7. All postal applications must be received before, on or date stamped 26 July 2019 and
addressed to: Fort Street High School – Enrolments

8. Applicants for Years 8 – 10, 2020 are not required to sit an entrance test.

Year 11 2020 ACER Higher Abilities Selection Test
As part of the Fort Street High School Year 11 selection process, applicants will be required to sit the
Acer Higher Abilities Test.
The Selective High Schools listed below are coordinating their entry test for Years 8-11 2020 to be held
on Saturday 10 August 2019:
- Caringbah High School
- Fort Street High School
- Girraween High School
- Gosford High School
- Hornsby Girls High School
- North Sydney Girls High School
- St George Girls High School
If you wish to apply for other selective schools not on the above list, please make direct contact with
the individual school.
If your first preference is Fort Street High School, you will need to apply and pay for the test at
Fort Street High School before 26 July 2019. The applicant will then sit the test at Fort Street
High School on Saturday 10 August 2019.
Please note: applicants cannot sit the test at Fort Street High School if the school is not your first
preference.
If you have nominated a second or third preference from the list above, you must also submit an
application to those schools. If Fort Street High School is your second or third preference, you must
still complete and send a full application (See page 2 – listed 1 to 7) to Fort Street High School so we
can register your preference. An administration fee of $50 will be charged to process the application.
As part of the Fort Street High School Year 11 selection process, applicants will be required to sit the
Higher Abilities Test which will be held on:
