TOPIC- Knowing Oneself

Content Standard:

The learners demonstrate an understanding of himself/herself during middle and late adolescence.

Performance Standard:

The learner’s shall be able to conduct self-exploration and simple disclosure

Learning Competence:

The learners can explain that knowing oneself can make a person accept his/her strengths and limitations and
dealing with others better. They can also share his/her unique characteristics, habits, and experiences, and maintain a
journal.

Time Allotment: 5 hours

Specific Learning Outcome

The learners can

-Define and contrast the following terms: a) actual self vs. ideal self, and b) self-concept vs. self- esteem

-Can share dimension of self

-Explain the importance of knowing oneself and acknowledging strengths and limitation toward personal
development

-Create a journal entry

LESSON OUTLINE

Introduction

*Student will write 3 preconceptions regarding the subject and classroom guidelines in a piece of paper. (Misconception
Check)

* Students will be presented with learning objective of the unit

Motivation

*Two truth and lie: Students will hear 3 sentences about their classmate and decide which one a lie. (Games)

Instruction/Delivery

*The activity for motivation will allow students to answer inquiry question that aim to determine which among the
statement are example of value, interest, strength and limitation and attitude

*The result of the test will be discussed to the students in order for them to know more about their personality and
their interest. They can assess which among the result are manifested

*Students will be presented with an overview of the chapter lesson. (Lecture)

*The teacher can read the journal as references to enrich ones discussion on self and its components.

Evaluation

Homework: Transfer Journal: fill out the chart for unit concept to apply or transfer those concepts to new ideas

-Interview family member/friend about oneself. Create a reflection on how one sees him/herself in relation to what
others perceive him/her.
