Overview
Overview
This guide provides an overview of the software that is included in this release
and the contents of the product software discs. It also explains the different license
types and functionality levels, and describes the method for installing Veritas™
Cluster Server One (VCS One) by Symantec.

Licensing
VCS One is a licensed product. During installation, you will be required to select
the appropriate license type for your installation.
Table 1-1 lists the VCS One license types.
Demo A demo license, which entitles you to use the product for 30 days for
evaluation purposes only.
After one year, the product auto-disables high availability (HA) for
the Policy Master and significantly reduces functionality.

VCS One provides three levels of functionality as described in Table 1-2. You can
purchase and use the functionality level that meets your business needs.
VCS One Start ■ The ability to monitor, start, VCS One with all features enabled

Note: If you purchased VCS One Start, make sure that you set the GrpFaultPolicy
and NodeFaultPolicy attributes to NoFailover for each service group you create
when you create the group. For information about how to set these attributes
when you create a service group, see the Veritas Cluster Server One User’s Guide.
The Policy Master runs on Solaris and Linux platforms. VCS One clients run on
AIX, HP-UX, Linux, and Solaris.

Before you install VCS One, read the Veritas Cluster Server One Release Notes and
the Veritas Cluster Server One Installation Guide. These guides are available in
