This document contains instructions for three design exercises for concrete water tanks. Exercise 1 requires designing an underground tank fixed at base that is 5m x 3m x 2m. Exercise 2 requires designing a rectangular tank open at top that is 3.6m x 8m x 3m resting on the ground. Exercise 3 requires designing an underground circular tank with a flexible base and 12.85m diameter to hold 600,000 liters, specifying M30 grade concrete and Fe415 reinforcement bars.

C-701 DESIGN OF CONCRETE STRUCTURES WATER TANKS Ex-1 Design an underground water tank fixed at base having size 5 m X 3 m X 2 m for tank is empty and surrounding soil is saturated condition. The materials are M30 grade concrete and HYSD reinforcements of grade Fe415. Ex-2 Design a rectangular water tank open at top resting on ground having a size of 3.6 m X 8.0 m X 3.0 m. The materials are M30 grade concrete and HYSD reinforcements of grade Fe415. Ex-3 Design the underground circular water tank for a capacity of 600 kiloliters (600000 liters or 6 Lakh liters) with flexible base. Consider the free board of 0.2m from the top and 12.85 m diameter of the tank. Use M30 and Fe415.
