As the student walked along the road, a red saloon car illegally parked along the road pulled out without checking for oncoming traffic and hit a passing motorcycle, throwing the motorcyclist off. The driver of the car then sped off without stopping, leaving the injured motorcyclist behind. Passersby helped move the motorcyclist and motorcycle to the side of the road and called the police, but the driver was nowhere to be found.

    Report on Hit-and-Run Accident

    I witnessed a hit-and-run accident after school on Thursday, 4 February, 2019.


    I left the school compound at 7.00 p.m. today and walked along Jalan Sekolalah towards
    my home. As I walked along the road, I kept an eye on the traffic as I wanted to cross the road.
    When I reached the end of the road, which was about 100 metres from the school gate, I
    waited by the roadside. There were a few cars parked along the road. I presumed that the
    drivers were waiting to pick up their children after school. I noticed that the cars were all
    illegally parked as there were no designated parking spaces along the curb.
    I saw a student getting into one of the cars, which was a red saloon. I could not see the
    registration number clearly as it was getting dark. The male driver of the car pulled out without
    stopping to check if there were any oncoming vehicles. As a result, he knocked into a passing
    motorcycle. The motorcyclist was thrown off his motorcycle. The driver sped off, leaving the
    motorcyclist behind.
    The motorcyclist was bleeding and groaning in pain. I rushed to help him to tile pavement.
    Several passers-by helped to move his motorcycle to the roadside and
    of them called the police.
    There was no sign of the car driver, whom I think is the cause of the accident.
