natively speak three distinct dialects which are Asi, Onhan, and Ini. My province is
and Sibuyan and 17 smaller islands. I grew up in San Agustin on Tablas island, the main
trading port from our province’s capital Romblon, Romblon. Due to our trading history
with Romblon, we share the same dialect as them called Ini; which directly translates to
“This”. Growing up, I have picked up Ini through conversations rather than written word,
I have never actually been formally taught Ini in my entire life and its correct grammar
The next language that I have picked up is English through television and school. I watched
a lot of cartoons as a kid and it has influenced me in leaning towards it in terms of writing
rather than using Tagalog. English has always been my favorite language, I feel like it
ways that seem ethereal. English is the only thing that I’m slightly good at apparently…
this vocabulary and I will be forever entwined within its grace. It has given me salvation

Tagalog up until senior high school where I transferred to another school that didn’t speak
Ini and I was forced to use Tagalog, and then I transferred to another school the following
year that also didn’t speak Ini, so my use of Tagalog became a daily occurrence. So really,
I only learned how to speak Tagalog fluently just a couple of years ago. Of course I have
been exposed to Tagalog words my entire life and I think that may have helped with my
development in mastering it. As of now I’m currently still learning more about my
languages, especially English. I’ve enrolled in this program to become a better English
