I. TERMS OF REFERENCE
/ACRONYMS
Terms of References
1. OJT shall refer to Practicum and/or On-the-Job Training at any legal company, office, firm and
or under any individual legally engaged in the business and practice of Architecture.
2. SEMINARS shall refer to professional & technical seminars aligned with the education of and
pursuant to the general practice of Architecture.
a. Diagnostics shall include but not limited to inspections, quizzes, evaluation sheets reports.
3. ADVISER shall refer to the faculty assigned to coordinate the subject and assigned section of
Industry Immersion & Seminars.
4. PROVIDER shall refer to the legal Individual, Firm or Company where trainee/s is to undertake
the Practicum requirement or OJT.
5. MENTOR/TRAINOR shall refer to the legal person/s under whose supervision the trainee shall
undergo his/her training.
6. INTERN/MENTEE/TRAINEE shall refer to any student enrolled in the subject of Industry
Immersion & Seminars for the semester covered.
7. UAP doc. 210 shall mean the Logbook of Diversified & Comprehensive Training
8. Schedule Matrix shall mean the tabular form of the enrolled schedule of the Mentee and the
remaining hours for travel, break, OJT time among others.
9. Professional & Legal Credentials of Mentors/Providers/Firm shall refer to but not limited to the
following: IAPOA, PTR, DTI, Mayor’s Permit, SEC, Company Info, etc.
10. Online Exams Certification refer to documentary proof of online Techncal Software
Program exam certification
11. Medical Clearances shall declare “Fit-To-Work” status for Field Work of mentee

. QUALIFICATIONS
COURSE FOR INDUSTRY IMMERSION &
SEMINARS
COMPONENTS
TRAINEE
a. Also referred to as MENTEE
b. Bona fide students of the College of Architecture, Adamson University
c. Incoming 5th year Architecture standing students, who have no failed or incomplete grades in
any of the Course/Major subjects.
d. Students must be enrolled in the current semester.
e. Students who have not incurred 2nd degree probationary status.
f. Students are required to present their Assessment Forms (AF) and Certificates of Enrolment
(CE) for evaluation purposes.
g. Any & all relevant qualifications as may be prescribed by the Office of the Dean, College of
Architecture, Adamson University.
h. Qualified Student/s shall be referred to as Trainee/s hereinafter.
TRAINOR
a. also referred to as MENTOR
b. Registered and Licensed Architect of the Republic of the Philippines (PRC).
c. Registered Member in good standing with the IAPOA.
d. Holder of current PTR.
ADVISER
a. Registered and Licensed Architect of the Republic of the Philippines (PRC).
b. Registered Member in good standing with the IAPOA.
c. Faculty of the College & University assigned the subject.
PROVIDER
a. Individuals, Firms and Companies legally engaged in the business and practice of Architecture
and its allied services, including but not limited to Architectural Design, Architectural
Interiors, Construction, Construction Management, Project Management and Project
Consultancy.
b. Individuals, Firms and Companies legally engaged in the business and practice
of
Architectural Interior,
c. Construction, Construction Management, Project Management and Project Consultancy
provided that the trainee undergoes training in the capacity befitting and complying with the
laws and documents listed under the Policies on Industry Immersion & Seminars and R.A.
9266.
d. All Individuals, Firms and Companies hereinafter referred to shall be duly registered with the
national and local government.
e. All Individuals, Firms and Companies hereinafter referred to, who are not engaged in
any form of illegal activity and/or transactions.
III. COURSE
COMPONENTS
The subject shall comprise of FIVE (5) components/parts:
1. On-The-Job Training or OJT
a. Office work
b. Field work (Jobsite)
2. Seminars
a. Technical Seminars – technical & skills development in nature
1. Training & Skills Seminars
2. Technology Seminars
3. Online Certification Exams
A minimum of THREE (3) seminars shall be required for this area.
b. Academic Seminars – academic development
1. Thesis and course related in nature aligned based on the following:
2. Research Topics and Areas of Study under Research Methods
3. Approved Thesis Proposals Architectural Design 9.
4. Design criteria under the Thesis Program

3. Assessment (inspections, quizzes, evaluation sheets & reports)
a. Evaluation by Mentor/Provider (ISO standard) – to be accomplished by the
Mentor/Provider evaluating the Mentee.
b. Evaluation by Mentee
c. Adviser Inspections & Visits may be conducted by the Adviser subject to the permission
and approval by Mentor /Provider. The necessary formal communication, documents,
schedules, permissions and pertinent details for this requirement shall be undertaken the
Mentee.

g. Echo Reports/Seminar
h. Narrative reports coinciding with the details of; accompanying with the Accomplishment
Reports.

4. Documentation
a. PSPA (Proposed Schedule of Project Assignments) – A PSPA shall serve as a guide for
both Mentor/Mentee for the undertaking of both Office & Field work requirements.
Fields of Practice shall govern Office Work PSPA while Field Work PSPA be based on
the following works, namely, Architectural (40%), Structural (20%), Plumbing (10%),
Electrical (10%), Mechanical (5%), Others (5%).
b. Weekly or Bi-weekly Accomplishment Reports (soft & hard copies)
c. Uniform Waiver
d. Medical Clearances “Fit-to-Work”/Duly-notarized Waiver Forms
5. Others
a. A schedule Matrix prepared by the Trainee shall be submitted to the Advisor for
preliminary evaluation and upon approval shall be presented/submitted to the

Provider/Mentor concurrence and acknowledgement affixed with the proper signatures of
approval.
IV. IMPLEMENTING
RULES
Diversified & Comprehensive Quality:
a. All required minimum hours undertaken shall be patterned after the provisions of R.A. 9266
& UAP Doc. 210 specifically focusing on the first four of the six (6) Fields of Practice (A, B,
C, D, E & F).
c. Minimum hours for Office work shall be set at one hundred fifty & one hundred eighty (150
& 180) hours for Mentor/Provider categories I & II respectively.
d. Maximum hours for Office work shall be set at one hundred eighty & two hundred ten (180
& 210) hours for Mentor/Provider categories I & II respectively.
e. Minimum hours for Field work shall be set at sixty (60) hours for each mentee while
maximum hours shall be set at ninety (90) hours regardless of the different Mentor/Provider
categories.
Provider Categories
a. Office Work
1.Category I – Architectural Design Practice

b. Field Work
1. C&PM – Construction & Project Management Practice
Internment Ratios:
c. Number of Mentor to Mentee shall be rated at 1:1 to 1:3
d. Number of Firm to Mentee slots shall be rated at 1:1 to 1:5

OJT Hours
a. The Mentee may not undertake OJT hours during the II & S class schedule nor any other hours
enrolled.
b. HOURS UNACCOUNTED FOR IN THE SAID MATRIX SHALL NOT BE CREDITED.
c. In cases of class suspensions or cancelation, liberating any portion of the matrix for
additional OJT hours, Mentees shall not be allowed to convert these into OJT hours
for subject credit.
d. Quota credits shall be PROACTIVE and NOT retroactive in nature.
OJT Quota Hours, Credit and Conditions
a. Credit shall be based on bi-weekly accomplishment reports submitted by mentee on a bi-
weekly basis
b. Credit shall be on a 1:1 ratio for regular office hours and 1: 1.5 for overtime work. Travel
and lunch hour breaks may not be credited.
c. Overtime hours shall NOT be credited except under the following conditions:
d. Where the mentee is unable to attain the required OJT hours may due to extraordinary
conditions & reasons such as Force Majeure, civil disturbance, medical reasons and those of
extreme severity, the Mentee may seek the approval of his/her Adviser, and present
the necessary documents as may be required for request of the undertaking and credit
for overtime hours.
e. A letter of request from the mentee, duly signed & acknowledged by mentor, has been
submitted to Adviser two (2) class days prior to intended date.
f. Mentee must have logged in at least one (1) regular office hour and one (1) hour's
break prior to overtime work for the same day.
g. Hours accomplished under FoP C under any Provider category may be credited as part or
first installment of the required hours for Field Work, provided:
h. That the no. of office hours has been substantially completed based on the required hours and
percentages.
i. That FoP C hours have substantially met the required hours for Discipline “A” for
Field
Work
Failure to Comply
a. The subject is Outcomes-based in nature
b. Grades of “Incomplete” are issued to students who have been unable to complete the course
requirements provided that the student/students have started either their office or field work
before preliminary examinations’ week
c. If a student is unable to start on his Office work sub-component, he/she may opt to undertake
the Field Work sub-component with a C&PM Provider/Mentor to avert a failing grade
subject to the following additional conditions:
1. The full minimum 60 hours must be accomplished prior to any Office Work activity.
2. Office works designated by the Mentor at field office shall be credited as
additional
FIELD work and only where and when the mentee is assigned to the site.
Simultaneous Office & Field work
a. Office and Field work may be undertaken simultaneously under the same Provider
b. Office and Field work may NOT be undertaken under the separate Providers.
V. CLEARBOOK
COMPILATION:
1. Each student shall be required to compile in clear book a compilation of documents as required for
the subject.
2. Clear book submission to the Adviser shall start no later than the second regular week containing
the following:
1) CV – Curriculum Vitae (Professional)
2) CE – Certificate of Enrolment
3) Schedule Matrix
4) TRD – Transportation Route Diagram
5) Professional & Legal Credentials of Mentors/Providers/Firm
a. IAPOA, PTR, DTI, Mayor’s Permit, SEC, Company Info, etc.
6) LoA (Transmitted & Received) – Letter of Application
7) LoRE - Letter of Recommendation
8) PSPA
9) (The above shall be repeated for each and every Provider)
10) Clear books shall be submitted with the following additional contents.
11) BI-AR (Duly Accomplished) – Bi-weekly Accomplishment Report
12) Seminar Certificates/Echo Reports
13) Online Exams Certification
14) Medical Clearances (“Fit-To-Work” for Field Work)

VI. LIMITATIONS & DELIMITATIONS:
1. Students are encouraged to plan and program the OJT component to realistically attain the
maximum possible number of hours and the most diversified and comprehensive
qualities of training covering the Fields of Practice (UAP Doc. 210). In this regard,
students may undertake the component under various Trainors/Providers referred to the
list previously submitted.
2. Students are not discouraged from successive mentorships. Simultaneous mentorships
are not allowed except for Office work and Field work under the same Provider/Mentor.
3. A maximum of five (5) to seven (7) trainees per Provider shall be allowed provided that
said maximum are to be designated in separate projects, stations, departments and
project sites. The optimal number recommended is THREE (3) per provider per project
assignment.
4. Wherever applicable, a maximum distance and radius of Seven & a half (7.50)
kilometers from point to point shall be observed for OJT assignments. Point to
point distances shall be referred and reflected to the Transportation Route Diagram.
5. Maximum distance and radius limitations may be exceeded for whole day schedules of
trainee provided the yellow and red colored portions of the schedule matrix are complied
with respectively.
6. Allowances for trainees are recommended to defray transportation and food expenses in
the conduct of official business and may be afforded upon the discretion of the
management. Incentives, rewards and any other forms of generosity are more than
welcome.
VII. DISCLAIMER
The successful completion of this course does not in any way, form or manner, guarantee the
following:
1. Full or partial credit to the Comprehensive and Diversified Training Requirement for the
student’s undertaking of the Licensure Examinations for Architects (LEA).
2. Successful quality or outcome of the student’s undertaking of the Licensure Examinations
for Architects (LEA).
