Student Teacher Teaching Schedule Cooperating Teacher

I. Subject Matter: Mathematics 8

Topic: Triangle Congruence Postulates

Prerequisite Topic: Properties of Congruence

II. Objectives:

At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to do the following with

75% accuracy:

a. ) identify the triangle congruence postulates through the figures given by

the teacher;

b. ) appreciate the triangle congruence postulates through the examples given

by the teacher; and

c.) perform the indicated operations of triangle congruence postulates through

exercise given by the teacher.

III. Materials Needed:

Teacher Needs: Learners Needed:

Chalk and Instructional Material Math Book and Lecture Notebook

V. Lesson Procedure

A. Introduction

1.) The teacher reviews the properties of congruence through asking questions of
the learners.

What are the properties of congruence?

Expected Answer: Symmetric Property of Congruence, Transitive Property of

Congruence and Reflexive Property of Congruence

How can you say that it is symmetric property of congruence, transitive property
of congruence and reflexive property of congruence?

Expected Answer: It is symmetric if a = b and b = a. It is transitive if a = b, b = c then

a = c. It is reflexive if a = a meaning it is equal to itself.

3.) The teacher connects it to the lesson discussion through identifying the parts of a
triangle in terms of their relative positions.

In ∆SON S ∠S is an included angle between SN and SO.

∠O is an included angle between OS and ON.

∠N is an included angle between NS and NO.

O N SO is an included side between ∠S and ∠O.

ON is an included side between ∠O and ∠N.

SN is an included side between ∠S and ∠N.

B. Interaction

1.) The teacher presents the lesson through a thorough discussion.

2.) The teacher discusses the triangle congruence postulate through a thorough
discussion provided that the teacher asks questions to the students.

a.) What do you mean by the SAS Congruence Postulate?

Expected Answer: If a triangle has two sides an included angle are congruent to the
corresponding two sides and included angle of another triangle.

b.) What do you mean by the ASA Congruence Postulate?

Expected Answer: If a triangle has two angles and included side are congruent to the
corresponding two angles and included side of another triangle.

c.) What do you mean by the SSS Congruence Postulate?

Expected Answer: If a triangle has three side that are congruent to the
corresponding three side of another triangle.

d.) If I have a ∆SON, given that ∠O,∠N and ON are marked. What triangle
congruence postulate is used.

Expected Answer: ASA Congruence Postulate

Example of Proving the Congruence of Triangles

Given: AB  DE

∠B  ∠E B E

BC  EF

Prove : ∆ABC  ∆DEF

A C D F

Expected Answer:

Statements Reasons

1. AB  DE 1. GIVEN

2. ∠B  ∠E 2.GIVEN

3. BC  EF 3.GIVEN

4. ∆ABC  ∆DEF 4.SAS Congruence Postulate

C. Integration

1.)The teacher gives the learners an exercise.

2.)The class will work individually.

3.)They are given 10-15 minutes to answer.

4.) The class will answer Exercise 3 page 355 for a total of 20 points and Exercise 4
page 357 for a total points of 12 in the Mathematics Learners Module-8 Book
Department of Education, Republic of the Philippines.

VI. Assignment

Exercise 5 page 358 in the Mathematics Learners Module-8 Book Department of

Education, Republic of the Philippines. A total points of 8.
