Figure 1.1: Heat Sensor Detector Circuit Diagram

This document presents a heat sensor detector circuit designed by students to help prevent fire accidents. Figure 1.1 shows the circuit diagram which uses a transistor as a heat sensor and other components like a diode and variable resistor to set a threshold heat level. When heat increases and crosses the threshold, the collector current rises and an LED turns on slowly. The students propose modifying the circuit to add a buzzer that sounds an alarm when the temperature exceeds a certain level. The overall goal is to develop a system that can detect heat, like from a fire, to avoid fire accidents using heat sensors and other circuit components.

HEAT SENSOR DETECTOR CIRCUIT

Figure 1.1: Heat Sensor Detector Circuit Diagram

In our everyday lives, several reports about accidents which occur most frequently are fire
incidents, and without proper precaution, it can happen within minutes – first with a lick of flame,
followed by the spreading as it search for fuel. It can be life-threatening since these types of
incidents almost happens everywhere – industries, homes, organizations, manufacturing
companies, establishments, due to different reasons. Later on, these can lead to massive destruction
of money and property, hundreds of casualties, and a significant impact to the environment as well.
To prevent and minimize these accidents, proper implementation and development of a good
protection system is crucial and necessary as an option. It can be developed by designing a system
that uses sensors that can detect heat, and that is with the use of heat sensors and heat detectors.
We propose a system that can detect heat, and it can be in the form of fire, in order to avoid
the occurrence of fire accidents with the use of heat sensor and some other components. In the
circuit shown above, here, Transistor BC547 is used as the heat sensor, and Diode 1N4148 and a
variable resistor of 1K ohm are used to set a threshold level for the sensitivity of heat. With the
use of knob, it can be rotated to adjust the sensitivity of the circuit. The working principle of the
circuit is simple, for when there is a heat or let us say, an increase in temperature to the level where
it crosses the threshold set by Pot, the collector current increases and the LED starts to illuminate
slowly.
For the modification of the circuit, we will be implementing the use of Buzzer as an alarm,
to know when the temperature exceeds a certain level, we can hear the alarm sound.
