-identify nouns and verbs isolated and in text
-use nouns and verbs correctly in sentences
Day 2:
Whole Group: Review nouns and verbs.
Model using nouns and verbs correctly in sentences.
Small Groups: Have small groups of students work together to fill in nouns
and verbs with a given set of words. Some students may need to be
put into a small group to re-teach. These students will practice
locating people, places, things, and action words in sentences.
Day 3:
Quick review of nouns and verbs
Divide students into groups based on Learning Styles.
ST: Students will complete worksheets identifying and using nouns and
verbs.
SF: Students will choose an animal and imagine what the animal would think if
it had to go to school. Have the students write sentences about what
the animal would see and do. Circle the nouns and underline the verbs
in the sentences.
NT: Students will explain what nouns and verbs are and give 5 examples of
each.
NF: Students will make a display of pictures, either drawn and colored or cut
out of magazines. The display will be labeled so that it shows an
understanding of nouns and verbs. (Student created not in packet)
Day 4: The Students will be given a Quiz on Nouns. The Quiz will include
sorting nouns/verbs, filling in the blanks, and drawing nouns/verbs.
Anchor activity: Think of as many nouns and verbs as you can. Use pictures
in the classroom for help. Draw or label the pictures on paper.
