Primary Trait Scoring Rubric For Technical Writing

The rubric provides criteria for evaluating technical writing across four traits: content, support, organization, and focus. For each trait, criteria are given for work that is exceptional, acceptable, amateur, and unsatisfactory. For content, the criteria address the purpose, logic, and repetition within the writing. For support, criteria address the development and support of key points using evidence. For organization, criteria address the structure, paragraphing, and logical presentation of ideas. For focus, criteria address setting and relating to the purpose and introduction/conclusion. A similar rubric is provided for writing mechanics evaluating sentences, word choice, spelling, punctuation.
