DIRECTIONAL OVERCURRENT RELAY


Aim:
 To determine the characteristics of the given relay for different plug
settings and time Multipliers.
 To obtain the time Vs. operating Characteristics.

Procedure:
1. Connect the circuit as shown in figure.
2. Set the TMS (Time Multiplier set) to1.
3. Set the PS (plug setting) for 2.5.

4. Close the switch S with applied voltage about 70-90V to the pressure
coil terminals (7 and 8)
5. Adjust the autotransformer of current coil such that the relay is just
trips.
6. Note down the minimum current and the time required to trip.
7. Vary the current in the current coil and note down the corresponding
tripping time of the relay.
8. Change the PMS to 3.75 and repeat the steps 5 to 7.
9. Now change the TMS to 0.6 with PSM 2.5 and repeat the procedure
and tabulate the results.
