Answer
You will need to add SIM module to RSLogix Emulate 5000 Chassis Monitor and configure generic 1756-Module
in I/O configuration of RSLogix 5000/Studio 5000 software.
Note: Starting with version 13 of RSLogix 5000 software the 1789 Sim module is no longer available. Use 1756-
Module instead.
1. Right click on any empty slot in the RSLogix Emulate 5000 Chassis Monitor and select Create
2. Select 1789-SIM 32 Point Input/Output Simulator. Accept defaults
3. 1789-SIM module should appear in the RSLogix Emulate 5000 Chassis Monitor
4. Open RSLogix 5000/Studio 5000 project file (create new if necessary), Right click on I/O Configuration,
and select New Module
5. Select 1756-MODULE
6. Select the Slot number where the module was inserted into the chassis and configure it
Input: Assembly Instance: 1, Size: 2
Output: Assembly Instance: 2, Size: 1
Configuration: Assembly Instance 16, Size 0
Comm Format Data - DINT

Note: The input data will appear in the second DINT tag, for example: Local:1:I.Data[1].0 (module in slot 1, first bit
of data).
