How To Tie A Necktie
This knot is perfect for a spread collar shirts or athletic collar shirts.
This is the knot you see most Europeans wearing and has become
extremely popular in the last 18 months with the slimmer lapel suits
combined with tiny checkered dress shirts.
This knot is a little more difficult to make - but fear knot... essentially
all you are doing is making an X across the slimmer end of the tie,
flipping it over the X, and then slipping it under.
How To Tie
The Windsor
Necktie Knot
Step 1
Start with the wide end "A" and extend it about 12 inches below narrow end "B".
Now cross the wide end "A" over narrow end "B".
Step 2
Now, turn the wide end "A" back underneath the narrow end "B".
Step 3
Continue by bringing the wide end "A" back over in front of the narrow end "B"
again. Do pull a little tight as you want to tighten the fabric a little but not too
much where the wide end "A" will not ride along the narrow end "B" in a later
step.
Step 4
Now, pull the wide end "A" up, behind, and over the X and then under the loop
around your neck.
Step 5
Now, take the wide end "A" and slip it under the knot and up towards the neck.
Step 6
Take the wide end "A" now and slip it under the last cross over and begin to pull
the tie down.
Step 7
And lastly, continue to pull the wide end and squeezing the knot. This knot
typically does not require, and we don't think it even looks good to have a dimple
- so, just flatten the sides for the finishing touch.
We hope that the above illustration helps - this knot is a little more complex, but a wonderful one to have in
your arsenal of knots. Now that you have a fairly good idea on how to tie a tie - go out and purchase one or
two neckties to wear.
