2.0 Objectives:

1.1 Draw a velocity contour at different cross section (X-Y plane) for a specific Re. (At
least five which are in equal distance.
1.2 Compare velocity contour at outlet for different Re.
1.3 Draw velocity profile along the vertical direction at center plane (cross section along
the middle plane) for a specific Re values. (This location will be at least 5 when are in
equal distance.)
1.4 Draw velocity profile along the vertical direction at outlet for different Re values.
1.5 Draw velocity profile along the center line for different Re.
1.6 Effect of re on pressure drop. (pressure drop should be calculated between two planes
where flow is fully developed.

3.0 Methodology:

i) Equation

vi) Fluent Setup:

For setting up the CFD simulation in Ansys fluent-

1. Ensure that the proper options are enabled.
2. The dimension setting is already filled in and cannot be changed.
3. Since Ansys Fluent automatically sets it based on the mesh or geometry for
the current system.
4. Afterwards click ‘OK’ to launch Ansys Fluent.

5.0 Conclusion:
In this experiment, firstly, Geometry was drawn as mentioned
in the problem & mesh was developed with edge sizing.
Velocity contour for different value of z for Re=100.41 has been
determined. For different value of z, contour was seen different
to others, as the 1st one & the last one, looked like different
contour as their color was not similar.
For Re=200.41, velocity contour was determined & also
compared with the contour for Re=100.41.
Velocity profile was determined for Re=100.41 & Re=200.41.
Pressure drop for different Re was also determined & from the
graph, it was seen that the graph was increasing as the pressure
increases.
