Newsletter
‘Growing Personal Excellence’
This is the last newsletter of the term and we can’t believe that we are coming up to our last week! Some of our
highlights over the last few weeks have been celebrating puanga, our school photos taken by Nicky Gray and a
visit from Venture Taranaki who worked with our impact team.
As you all know, due to roll growth we have been given extra staffing and now have three classrooms.
Teina Nest - Maria Ferris
Waenagnui Den - Bianca Mitchell & Amanda McAree (1 day)
Tuakana Hive - Alice McColl & Kat Haerewa
Learners are settling in very well to their new classrooms. Here is what some of our students had to say about
the recent changes:
Teina Nest
Macy - It rocks because there are lots of things we can make things out of.
Amaiah - I like all the stuff on the walls and how big it is.
Georgie - I like how there are more things to play with.
Waenganui Den
Comien - There’s not as many people and everyone’s calm.
Jekani - The new classwork is fun.
Sofia - There are different things now like our seesaw wall.
Rhylan - I like that we get our own desk.
Tuakana Hive
Oliver - It’s better for our education - especially the juniors. There’s less people in our workshop groups. To be
honest I’d rather be in a group with 3 people rather than 7. It’s an advantage.
Tewaiarani - We get more work done.
Lucy - There’s more space and the teacher can help you more and you can get more learning done and all the
classes get to be used.
Jack - It’s quieter because there’s not as many people.
Chess Success
Whenuakura A won overall primary division in the Whanganui Chess Tournament and will represent Whanganui
at the Nationals Tournament. A long intense day was enjoyed by all. Thank you to Kelly Crawford for coaching.
Individual placings:
2nd Overall - Devin Miller
3rd Overall - Lorcan Honeyfield
Toys
Can students please keep all of their toys at home. This can cause problems (and breakages) when they bring
them to school Thank you.
Kai Kitchen
We are very lucky to have lunches supplied for some families from the Kai Kitchen. This organisation is run purely
on donations. If anyone would like to donate some food towards these lunches it would be really helpful. This
could be anything - bread, fillings, fruit, snacks, muesli bars, biscuits, home baking. Please drop off any donations
to Joy Macbeth at 26 Egmont Street. Many thanks.
There are also several ways you can contact them for assistance. You can call or text The Kai Kitchen on (021) 465
688, e-mail them at [email protected], contact us through our Facebook Page.
School Donations
Many thanks to those who have paid their school donations. If you need a copy of the invoice please let Sally
know.
Head Lice
Once again these seem to be doing the rounds. Please be vigilant over the holidays - if you need some treatment
please contact the Public Health Nurse - Rochelle Jakeman, 027 6464 740
