    List of Thesis Topics

    1.) Decriminalizing Concubinage and Adultery


    a. Concubinage and Adultery punish the same act. However, both are very sexist,
    concubinage is generally harder to prove than adultery, in terms of penalties, the
    penalty for adultery is heavier than that of concubinage. Studies would show that
    adultery and concubinage are often resorted to only as “bargaining suits” to get
    the other party in a nullity petition to “cooperate” or to capitulate in support
    negotiations. Separated or abandoned wives, who have no legal remedy in the
    absence of a divorce law, are always under a constant threat of suit from their
    estranged husbands. They are blackmailed by their estranged husbands through
    adultery, and while they also have a ground to file concubinage, they face the
    difficulty of proving the crime due to the inherent difficulty in the standards set by
    the law.
    b. My proposal is to decriminalize or remove concubinage and adultery as crimes
    under the RPC and propose a new law that would be more gender equal. However,
    instead of it being a criminal offense I would propose it to be civil in nature as it is
    a violation of the marriage contract.
    c. Read all relevant materials under the constitution as well as the civil code
    regarding the topic.

    2.) Mandatory Educational Requirements for Senators and the President & congressmen
    a. As government official voted in mass and as leaders who spearhead the making of
    laws, they should be held to a higher standard thus should have attained at least
    a college degree. The making of laws is a tedious and difficult endeavor thus those
    who craft it must at least have a higher education.
    b. Read all relevant materials under the constitution regarding the topic.

    3.) Lawless Lawyers: being a lawyer as an aggravating circumstance


    a. I’m not really sure about the legal issue here Dean, but being a lawyer you possess
    a different mens rea and despite having a deeper understanding and knowledge
    of the law you still choose to break it, you should be accountable at a higher
    degree.
    b. Read all relevant materials in criminal law regarding the topic.

    4.) Exploring the Possibility of a one child policy in the Philippines


    a. I plan to research if a one child policy would be possible in the Philippines however
    instead of making it mandatory, I would propose a “benefit system” where should
    a family only have one child, and they shall be entitled to such benefits perhaps
    maybe an alternative to the 4p’s program.
    b. Read all relevant materials pertaining to one child policies around the world and
    the constitutional limitations of such policies.
