Experiment No.

: Experiment Title (TNR, 16, bold)

ABSTRACT: This is a summary of your activity. Define the experiment that your are
dealing with in terms of concept. A sentence or two would do it. Summarize your
methodology. Present a summary of your conclusions. Make this 250 words or less.
(Times New Roman, 12, Italic)

This is where you write the names of your group members. First name, Middle Initial,
Family Name. Name of the leader first followed by the rest of the group members in
alphabetical order in reference of their family names. Group 01, 7:30-10:30AM
Mondays, CEA420, BSREM1-2, Department of Railway Engineering and Management,
College of Engineering, Polytechnic University of the Philippines. To be presented on
July 2, 2018 at CEA420, College of Engineering, Polytechnic University of the
Philippines during the Discussion on Experiments on Materials and Molecules.

Introduction

This is composed of three paragraphs. Times New Roman, 12.

Define what is your experiment is all about. Include its sources, means of
production, uses and applications. This is a simple general statement describing the
topic/subject that you’re experimenting on.
Briefly discuss the importance of conducting this experiment in reference to your
chosen field.
Enumerate your objectives but is written in paragraph form.

Methodology

a. Reagents
Enumerate the reagents that you used in the experiment. Written in
paragraph form. Include percentage purity, concentration and manufacturer if
date is available. Include a note in the end that all reagents used were issued
by the Polytechnic University of the Philippines.
b. Equipment and Apparatus
Enumerate the list of apparatus and equipment used in the experiment.
Written in paragraph form. For equipment, include the name of the
manufacturer, if available.
c. Personal Protective Equipment
Enumerate the list of apparatus and equipment used in the experiment.
Written in paragraph form.
d. Experimental Procedure
1. Production of potato plastic
Enumerate the procedure that you conducted in detail. Example: 100
grams of clean and unpeeled potato was grated. The potato was
transferred to a mortar and pestle and…..
2. Production of glue from milk

Results and Discussions

This is where you present the data gathered during the experiment. Remember,
that observations are also considered as data. On the first paragraph, make a brief
introduction on what this section is all about.
a. Production of a potato plastic
Present the “results and discussion” of every objective in a paragraph. Did you
meet your objectives? Why or why not?
b. Production of glue from milk

Summary
Briefly discuss the results of your experiment. Include recommendations on how
to achieve an improved yield or improved results.

Acknowledgements
You may briefly acknowledge people behind your backs like your parents who
gave you your allowance to buy the things needed for the experiment, the PUP for
allowing you to use their reagents and equipment, etc.

References
As future engineers, it is expected that you will not be charged with plagiarism.
Enumerate every source of information you used in the experiment, including the
websites you visited during information gathering. To make it standard, please follow the
APA guidelines. Of course, you need to include the PUP Chemistry Laboratory Manual
in the list.

Please affix your signatures, over printed names and date after the reference section.
