Attainment targets:
Ask students why they think measuring light intensity is important while
designing a bedroom’ or a library or study etc.?
Ask what is the technology used to measure light intensity? Show the
equipment/ data loggers/ sensors used to measure light intensity.
Resources Engage:
Post-‐its, mirrors, foil, magnifying, glasses, and other objects that can
show the reflection of light easily, Objects that aren’t as obviously
reflective (can be any object that isn’t “shiny”)
Show pictures on a powerpoint slide show such as:
Use KWL chart or a T chart and ask students to write on post-it notes what
they know and what they want to know about light, its source and
reflection.
Generate a discussion regarding the statements that students have
written. This task will help you identify the misconceptions that students
might have regarding light.
Explore:
Set-up stations for exploration regarding different concepts.
Explain:
Bring the class together to discuss their findings.
Wrap up: Re-visit the KWL chart and use video links for consolidation
