Rationale

Once I am finished with my program at National University, I will focus on improving in

meeting the Teaching Performance Expectations. I am working toward being a lead teacher at my

school where I can then move into a site coordinator role. With this leadership position comes

great responsibility and I would like to attend a leadership class to support this journey. I would

also like to continue my professional development through various workshops, conferences, and

by being a part of a WASC accreditation team.

Goal 1

My main goal for this next year of teaching is to complete my Master’s degree. I would also like

to attend a counseling workshop to support my students for when we enroll them into their

classes each semester. In order to move forward into a leadership role, I would like to begin

taking leadership training classes as well.

Goal 2

During this time period, I would like to become a lead teacher. I want to work toward being able

to support my peers in their credentialing programs. I also would like to be a part of a WASC

accreditation team that will use my knowledge and skill sets to determine if a school can be

WASC accredited. I will need to attend a special training in order to achieve this. I also would

like to be more confident in the assessment coordinator role that I have just started this year. I

think this will help with understanding the assessments and the importance of interpreting the

results to drive instruction.

Goal 3

For this academic school year, I would like to be certified to mentor my peers in their

credentialing program. I want to be able to reflect on my own teaching practices and support my

co-workers while they are going through the different steps within their program.

Goal 4

I would like to eventually become a site coordinator for the junior high and high school program

at my school. I think this leadership role would allow me to put my best teaching practices to

good use by supporting the staff throughout the year. I think this would be a great fit for me as I

gain more experience.

Goal 5

I want to continually find conferences and trainings to improve my teaching and leadership role.

I would like to keep up on the best teaching practices by reading relevant journals or books. I

also want to make sure that each year I update my eportfolio with new artifacts to showcase my

professional development.
