She has been charged with murder last August 29th at 8:30 in the evening at Global company. The evidences we will
present to you and the testimony of the witnesses will prove the defendant guilty as charged.
Defense Atty: Your Honor, ladies & gentlemen of the jury: under the law, my client is presumed innocent until proven

Clerk/Bailiff: Please state your full name.
Prosecutor: Ms. Alcantara where were you between 8:00 to 9:00 in the evening when the crime happened? And what
were you doing in that place?
Secretary: I was at the Global Company where I worked at. I stayed for a few hours late to finish the paper works
assigned by my boss.
Prosecutor: By that time, can you tell us what you have witness inside your work premises?
Secretary: Around 8:30 PM, as I was about to finish my task, I heard a scream coming from the next office room. So I
decided to check where the scream was coming from.
Secretary: I saw Emily Sanchez running towards the exit, agitated. That’s when I found Sarah’s body on the floor
covered with blood.
Prosecutor: What did you do after you found the victim’s body?
Secretary: I immediately called our company’s main security guard on duty that night. We called the ambulance and
the police but Sarah was already dead when we arrived at the hospital. She was new to our company but our boss
sees her potential than our long time employee Emily that’s why Sarah Gomez was chosen to be promoted as a
manager It’s devastating to know that she is murdered. (sad)
Judge: You may step down. The prosecution may call the next witness.
Prosecutor: I wish to call the Global company’s main security guard to the stand.
Clerk/Bailiff: Please raise your right hand, Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth,
so Help you God?
Security Guard: I do
Prosecutor: Can you narrate to us what you saw and witness at that time when the murder happened?
Security Guard: I was roving around the premises when someone called me and reported that one of our company’s
employee needs help because she was stabbed.
Prosecutor: Have you notice anything suspicious at that time?
Security Guard: Yes, I saw a woman hurriedly walking towards the exit.
Security Guard: When I saw her, her back was facing me but I remember her bearing and it is Emily (points to the
defendant).
Defense Atty: Yes your honor. How can you say that Emily was the one you saw when you did not even clearly saw
the face of the woman?
Security Guard: I recognize the way she walks because she has been a long time employee in our company.
Judge: You may step down. Does the prosecutor of the victim wish to call any more witnesses?
Prosecutor: Yes your honor. I would like to call the police officer to the stand.
Clerk/Bailiff: Please raise your right hand, Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth,
so Help you God?
Police officer: I do
Prosecutor: Are you the officer who investigated the crime scene?
Prosecutor: What are the evidences that you gathered from the crime scene?
Police officer: We were able to find a bladed weapon used in the crime and requested for the surveillance camera
footage from the NBI on the night of August 29th.
Prosecutor: (Shows the weapon used) Is this the bladed weapon that you found in the crime scene? Does the
fingerprint in the weapon match the fingerprint of the defendant? (Gives the weapon to the bailiff)
Prosecutor: How about the cctv footage you mentioned? (Faces the judge and jury) Your honor we would like to
present the footage showing the defendant hurriedly proceeding towards the exit at the time when Ms. Sarah Gomez
was murdered.
Judge: You may step down. Does the prosecutor wish to call anymore witnesses?
Defense Atty: Yes your honor, I wish to call the defendant to the stand.
Clerk/Bailiff: Please raise your right hand, Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth,
so Help you God?
Defendant: I do
Defense Atty: Where were you when the crime happened? And what were you doing?
Defendant: I was at the office but after the office hours, I went home.
Defendant: Yes I have seen her a few times because we are working in the same company but we are not close.
Defense Atty: What do you think is the reason why you are the main suspect in this case?
Defendant: I have no idea why they are accusing me of murder. Besides, I have no reason to do that to her.
Defense Atty: How can you prove that you are not in the crime scene?
Defendant: I can present to you my time of log out in the office that night. I left earlier before the crime happened.
Defense Atty: (Holds the record of time out) In this evidence, it is stated here the time of your log out at exactly 5:00
o’clock in the afternoon before the crime occurred which proves that you, my client are not in the crime scene. (Gives
the record to the bailiff). Thank you, I have no further questions.
Prosecutor: Yes your honor. (Talks to defendant) You stated that you logged out in the office at exactly 5:00 but why
were you not seen exiting the company in the surveillance camera footage. You are only seen exiting the building at
exactly 8:40, 10 minutes after the victim was murdered. That means you are still inside the office, what did you during
those hours?
Prosecutor: You keep on stating that you are not in the crime scene, but the footage proves that you are the one who
exited the building hurriedly and why does your fingerprint matches the fingerprint in the weapon? This proves that
you are guilty for murdering Ms. Gomez. What were your motives as to why you killed the victim?
Defense Atty: Objection your honor! My client is not yet proven guilty. The prosecutor should not intimidate my
client.
Prosecutor: I will repeat my question, if you are not in the crime scene why does your fingerprint matches the
fingerprint found in the weapon and why did you stay in the building after your time out?
Defendant: I already told you that I’m not the one in the footage and I don’t know anything about that weapon.
Prosecutor: Are you sure that you have no relations to the victim? According to your boss’ secretary, the both of you
are running for the promotion of manager but the victim was chosen instead of you.
Defendant: As I have said no! I knew her as a newly promoted manager because we work in the same company and
nothing else. What are my motives to kill her? I may not be chosen as a manager but that is not enough reason for me
to kill her. Maybe that happened to Sarah because that position is not meant for her.
Judge: You may step down. Both sides please state your closing statement.
Prosecutor: Your Honor, Ladies and gentlemen of the jury: you have witnessed the concrete evidence presented that
proves the defendant of intentionally murdering our victim, Ms. Sarah Gomez. The defendant is seen in the footage
after the crime happened and her fingerprint matches the weapon. Though the defendant is denying, it is clear that
she cannot accept the fact that she was not chosen as the manager. Based on the evidence, the defendant must be
guilty.
Defense Atty: Your Honor, ladies and gentlemen of the jury: my client proves that she was not in the crime and did
not commit the murder accused to her. She has no motives on killing the victim. Therefore, you must find her not
guilty.
Judge: You have heard the evidences and closing arguments from both sides of this case. The court will take a recess
while the jury deliberates. (Bangs Gavel)

Clerk/Bailiff: (hands the verdict forms to the judge and hands it back to the jury)
Judge: Will the defendant please rise for sentencing? Will the foreperson please rise and read the verdict?
Jury Foreperson: We jury sentence the defendant, Ms. Emily Sanchez guilty of murder.
Judge: The court, having heard the evidence, now finds the Jury’s verdict to be appropriate and fair to the defendant,
the victim, and the community. Members of the jury, attorneys, and court personnel, thank you for the respect that
you have given the defendant and the law. You are excused. I hereby declare the court adjourned. (Bangs Gavel)
