UNIT-I NOTES
1. Draw an ellipse when the distance of focus from the directrix is equal to 35mm and eccentricity is
3/4.also draw tangent and normal at any point on the ellipse.
2. A fixed point is at 60mm from a fixed straight line. Draw the curve when eccentricity is 2/3.name
the curve. Draw tangent and normal to the curve through a point P, which is at 65mm from the
straight line.
3. Trace the conic section when the distance of the focus from the directrix is 30mm and eccentricity
is equal to 1. Name the curve. Draw the tangent and normal at any point on the curve.
4. A fixed point is 50mm from a fixed straight line. Draw the locus of a point moving in such a way
that its distance from the fixed straight line is equal to its distance from the fixed point. Name the
curve. Draw a tangent and a normal at a point at horizontal distance of 40mm from the directrix.
5. Draw a hyperbola when the distance of focus from the directrix is equal to 35mm and eccentricity
is 4/3.
6. The vertex of a hyperbola is 65mm from its focus. Draw the curve if the eccentricity is 3/2. Draw
a tangent and a normal at a point on the curve.
7. A circle of 50mm diameter rolls along a line. A point on the circumference of the circle is in
contact with the line in the beginning and after one complete revolution. Draw the cycloidal path
of the point. Draw a tangent and normal at any point on the curve.
8. Draw an epicycloid of a circle of 40mm diameter, which rolls outside on another circle of 150mm
diameter for one revolution clock –wise. Draw a tangent and a normal to it at a point 95mm from
the centre of the directing circle.
9. Construct the path traced by a point on a circular disc of radius 30mm rolls in a circular path of
radius 100mm inside it.
10. Draw a hypocycloid of a circle of 40mm diameter, which rolls inside of another circle of 160mm
diameter for one revolution counter clock-wise. Draw a tangent and a normal to it at a point
65mm from the centre of the directing circle.
11. Construct one convolution of an involute of a circle of diameter 25mm. draw tangent and normal
at a point on the involute 45 mm from the centre of the circle.
12. Draw an involute of a square of side 30mm. draw a tangent and normal at any point on the curve.
