Aims of Lesson: outline expectations of materials for class(Folder, Music, Pencil, Staff Paper). To get a familiarity with what the course offering consists of, as well as learn some basic musical concepts, vocabulary, history. Lesson Objectives: Students will be able to… 1.) Properly identify instruments of the brass band, 2.) Clap along on the 2&4, 3.)Learn about what a second line is. Assumed Prior Knowledge: Students may have a knowledge of instruments, but likely will have trouble properly identifying brass instruments and their parts by their name. Geography of New Orleans, LA. Resources: Speakers & Spotify, Whiteboard & Pens, Survey, Survey Handout, Instrument diagram handout, Nola Brassband Questionnaire. Powerpoint of Images from Handout. Assessment: Students will fill out handout during class, and will be quizzed on it next week.
