4.1. Perform Mensuration and Calculation

This document is a lesson plan for a 7th grade class on measuring computer components. The objectives are for students to demonstrate understanding of measurement concepts and perform accurate calculations based on tasks. Students will learn to perform basic mensuration by identifying objects to be measured and using correct specifications. Types of measurable components include memory, storage capacity, processors, and video cards. Students will also learn about different types of drive interfaces like IDE, SATA, and SCSI used to connect storage devices like hard drives and flash drives. The lesson involves student participation through questions, examples, and a quiz to evaluate their understanding of computer components that can be measured like RAM, registers, flash drives, and hard drives.

• IDE – Integrated Drive Electronics, also called Advanced Technology
Attachment (ATA) is an early drive controller interface that connects
computers and hard disk drives. An IDE interface uses a 40-pin
connector.
• SATA – Serial ATA refers to the serial version of the ATA drive controller
interface. A SATA interface uses a 7-pin data connector.
• SCSI – Small Computer System Interface is a drive controller
interface that can connect up to 15 drives.
