I. Objective: Identify the signal words to determine the chronological order of events in the story.

II. Subject Matter:


Topic: The Stranger by I.V. Mallari
Teaching aids: Visual text written in manila paper, Grade 7 Learning Module
Reference: K-12 BEC English Learning Module, 201-206
Value Focus: Trust and Fostering friendship
Competency: ENG7VC-IId-11 ; ENGLT-IId-4

III. Developmental Activities:

Activity: The teacher will play a song ‘Count on me’ by Bruno Mars and let them take note of the key ideas
mentioned in the song.
Analysis: Encourage learners to discover how the initial activity is related to the story.
Direct the learners to read the story ‘The Stranger’ by Ismael V. Mallari.
Process questions:
1. What makes the other boys consider David as a friend?
2. Do you think its a good way to establish friendship?
3. How do you befriend a classmate?
4. Why did the narrator find David suspicious?
Abstraction: Sum up all the main points of the lesson.
Guide questions:
1. What kind of conflict did the characters faced?
2. What does the story teach you on building a friendly relationship?
Application:Group activity. Let the students enumerate all the important details in the story. Let them present
their answers to the class afterwards.

IV. Evaluation: Arrange the events chronologically or in a way they happened in the story. Number the events
1-5.
_____At recess, David approached his classmates and shared the puto seco with them.
_____David and his family rented a big house at the end of the road.
_____None of his classmates like him because he was a stranger to them.
_____One day David took his classmates and gave them good food to eat.
_____They found out David to be interesting.
