Introduction ‘The Varley Double Helical Gear Pump Handbook has been revised and updated by demand from our ‘customers. It is a reference book for designers, draughtsmen and buyers to keep and use, enabling them to select and specify a pump precisely. By using Varley Pumps you are benefitting from our 50 years of experience and development in this field which has made us leaders. If you require to pump a liquid with lubricating properties at flow rates between 0.5 ignm and 200 Igpm against pressures varying from p.s.i. to 500 p.s.i. then your need falls within the range of Varley double helical gear units. Larger pumps can be supplied for special applications and your enquiry would be welcome. With knowledge of the output required and the differential pressure (approximately same as discharge pressure if inlet pressure low), make provisional choice from Performance Indicator Guide on page 6, then, more accurately, with individual performance: and power curves on pages 7—19, taking viscosity into account You are now in a position to specity our pump precisely using the lomenclature system given on page 4. ‘Should you prefer, our Engineers or Agents will be only toopleased to make a suitable selection for you on receipt of full details of your requirements.
