1. Motivation

Do you know how this game works on a computer?
Today we are going to discuss the computer system and computer elements.
B. Discussion
Computer system – includes not only the physical aspects of a computer but also any relevant
software and group of peripheral devices that are necessary to make the computer perform a
specific function or group of function.
Elements of a computer
1. Hardware – is the mechanical magnetic and electronic devices that make up a computer
system.
Example:
3. People ware – refers to the people or individual who uses computer for specific specialization
or interest
4. Data – is a collection or unprocessed figures which can include text, number, images, audio,
and video.
Kinds of Data Handled by the Computer
a. Text – consist of letters, numbers punctuation marks, mathematical symbol and other
conventional symbols.
b. Numeric Data – consist of numbers alone.
c. Graphic – refers to images and pictures which can be jpg. Bmp. or other form entered to a
computer.
d. Sounds – any music or tunes entered in the computer.

Capabilities of a computer
1. A computer is capable of doing repetitive operations.
2. A computer can process information at extremely rapid rates.
3. The computer can accept or store large amount of data and instruction
4. A general–purpose computer can be programmed because of its flexibility.
Limitation of a computer
1. A computer, technically, is not an intelligent machine.
2. A computer unlike a human being, has no intuition.
3. It cannot correct erroneous input data.
4. It cannot generate information on its own.
5 It is subject to occasional breakdown.
