Final Parish Assignments 2019
Final Parish Assignments 2019
Final Parish Assignments 2019
After several rounds of consultations and with the help of the Human Resource Board, I
am announcing the Parish Assignments for the Pastoral Years from June 2019 to May 2022.
Parish priests are given three-year terms, subject to renewal. Parochial Vicars and
others may be re-assigned after one or two years. Outgoing parish priests and their councils
should prepare the standard forms for an Inventory of Assets and a Financial Statement to be
given to the Incoming Parish Priest. The re-organization of parish personnel may also be done.
The turn-over of parishes may be done during the last week of May 2019, before the
start of the new Pastoral Year on June 1. I would like to thank the outgoing parish priests and
parochial vicars for your services in your present parishes.
I would also like to thank the members of the Human Resource Board who helped me in
the discernment process in making these parish assignments: Frs. Cabunoc, Salvador, Buntol,
Escalante, Ricacho, M. Valmores, Zayas and Msgr. Monsanto.
May we look on our new parish assignments as privileged moments for the continuation
of our priestly ministry in the Lord’s vineyard.

Notes:
1. A Quasi-Parish has a resident Parish Administrator. It keeps its own canonical books and
submits its own financial statements to the archdiocesan Finance Office. It is on its way
to become a Parish once all the requirements are met.
2. A Sub-Parish is an extension of its mother parish, and under the supervision of the
Parish Priest. All canonical books are kept with the mother parish. Financial statements
are recorded separately but still consolidated with those of the mother parish.
3. A Mission Station is like a Sub-Parish, but needs a subsidy and other means of support
from the archdiocese.
4. A Parish Priest is “the proper pastor of the parish entrusted to him” (Can. 519).
5. An Assistant Parish Priest is the second person in-charge of the parish. He has previous
experience as a parish priest. He is given more management responsibilities – e.g., in
financial accounting, or chairing a committee of the parish.
6. A Parish Administrator is the pastor in charge of a Quasi-Parish or a Sub-Parish.
7. A Parochial Vicar assists the Parish Priest in various aspects of the Parish.
8. A Resident Priest is also a part-time Parochial Vicar, while attending to a particular
ministry or studies. He helps in weekend Masses and other needs of the parish. He
helps form the community of priests in the parish.
9. An Applicant Priest is applying for incardination in the Archdiocese.
10. A Guest priest helps in the needs of the parish as indicated by the parish priest. He is
incardinated in another diocese or belongs to a religious congregation.
